Case Study for Internet Evangelism

Posted on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 in Web Development
A little while ago I wrote an article entitled More Sex on TV means More Kids Having Sex. It referred to a report that stated that "young teens were 2.2 times more likely to be sexually active if they were exposed to sexual content on the television".

What shocked me about the follow up to the article was how many visits I got from people searching for "kids having sex"! I got a steady stream of traffic for about a month for that search term, which was a bit disturbing I thought.

In writing the original article I never really expected to gain that sort of traffic to my site. My post was meant as a commentary to how what we allow ourselves to be exposed to will affect our behaviour.
This is an ad revenue sharing blog.

Having built up a bit of authority in the search engines any site can, if this example is not isolated, be able to inject the Christian message of hope, forgiveness and love into a specific topic. It takes time to build up authority in the search engines, but if a Christian is running a site or blog about any niche that authority can come with time and quality.

The guys over at Blog Ministry have written a few articles about using blogs for evangelism and ministry. Below are links to two of them:

You should point those people using that search term in the right direction through the article to some information from a christian view oint that will help them in the right direction.
