Two Discipleship Training Schools (YWAM DTS) I Would Want to Do

Posted on Thursday, May 11, 2006 in YWAM
I did my YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM - Reef to Outback in June 1998. When I signed up to do it I didn't really know what to expect, all that I did know was that I wanted to "figure out who God was" and visit Australia. I was able to visit Australia during the DTS but figuring out who God is will take an eternity. The DTS was a great place to start though.

What appealed to me about the YWAM DTS here at YWAM - Reef to Outback was having an Australian Outback experience, going camping, being mobile during the school and then getting to see the Pacific Islands for our outreach phase of the school. What I didn't count on was how much I would miss the snow and the winter. Of course I only came here for 6-months originally, and now I am aproaching the 8-year mark!

Recently I have seen two different YWAM DTSes that really appeal to the "winter" part of me that gets absolutely no satisfaction living in the tropics. As a matter of fact our "winters" here in Townsville are hotter than our summers back in Calgary.

The two DTSes that I saw were:
The Snowboarders DTS has a great video on the site for you to check out. The Hockey DTS starts in September and the Snowboarders DTS starts in January.

If you are after a "warmer" experience and want to do what I did and check out Australia our schools start in July, October, January and April. You can check them out at YWAM - Reef to Outback Discipleship Training School (DTS).
