June 2006 E-Mail Newsletter
I was sitting around the house this morning waiting for a tree cutter who is supposed to be cutting down the tall eucalypt tree that we have in our back yard when I realized that I don't think I have sent a e-mail update since announcing Jessica's birth. I figured that was pretty slack so I would write this update and try to get it sent off this weekend.
As I'm sure you can imagine life around the Hutchison house has been pretty busy with the two kids. Jessica is pretty stinking cute, and Caleb is growing up so quick. His speech is improving so much that we can almost have an entire conversation with him. At times he does get a bit frustrated though and stammers through some things, often saying "I don't know" or "I can't say it". He is really exploding and it is so fun to see.
Tamara has recovered quite well from Jessica's birth. After Caleb was born it was quite a difficult recovery with her being in hospital for five nights and then another two weeks in bed. This time around she only spent one night in hospital and was up and about as soon as we were home. With two kids at home now she is still very tired, especially with her chronic fatigue, but she's doing pretty well.
Life at work has been pretty busy as usual. On Monday when I go back to the office I get to re-build our main security and authentication (Microsoft Active Director if you really want to know...) server which is something that I have never done before. The hard drive in it failed on Thursday night / Friday morning and when I got to the office on Friday some of our services had stopped working because of this failed server. It's not something that I am looking forward to, but we'll see how things go. The longer it takes me to fix it, the more services will shut down, so hopefully it'll be a steep, but fast learning curve.
We are building quite a few new web-sites at the moment as well, including one for YWAM Darwin, Impact World Tour Australia and a few other sites. Our communications team is coming together quite well since we all moved into the same office together. A few weeks ago I got to speak on the YWAM School of Digital Communications (SDC) and a few of them are looking at coming back to join us in communications, which should be really good.
The YWAM - Reef to Outback Podcast has been going quite well and we have a listenership of about 100 people. If you don't know what a "podcast" is it is basically a radio show that we record and then put on the web for people to download and listen to. I have a lot of fun doing it and it's great to be able to have this new way of telling people what's happening at YWAM - Reef to Outback. In the last month I have recorded updates from the YWAM DTS Outreach teams as well as had a couple of group podcasts. If you haven't listened to them yet check them out and let me know what you think...
I guess that sums up a lot of what's been happening here, never a dull moment...
Talk to you again later.
Bill
