YWAM DTS - Why I Did It
When I decided to follow after God's plan for my life in November 1997 I really didn't have a good understanding of who God was. Obviously I knew enough to make the decision that God's plan for my life was better then my own, but I didn't have a good in-depth understanding of who God was.In December I was picking up some books from a friend and started talking to his brother (Tyler Rousell) who had just done his YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) down in Mexico. He told me amazing stories of his own YWAM DTS and what God had done in and through him. His experiences on outreach were amazing, and were totally different to what I had though of God from what I had seen up till then. Tyler had been so radically changed by his experience that he was going on to join YWAM staff, and he is still YWAM staff today.
After talking to Tyler I figured that doing a YWAM DTS sounded like a pretty good way to figure out who God is. I combined that with the long term goal that I had of visiting Australia and that's how I ended up doing my YWAM DTS at YWAM - Reef to Outback in Townsville, Australia.
