YWAM Work with AIDS and the UN

Posted on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 in YWAM
YWAM has been working with various AIDS ministries around the world for quite a few years. I remember hearing about some of the work that YWAM has been doing quite a few years ago. On the GENESIS school that I staffed in Switzerland there were a few people from Uganda, where YWAM has been doing work for quite a while. There is a good article about some of the work and challenged that we have faced on the YWAM International Web-site: AIDS - Two Countries, Two Different YWAM Stories. The two countries that they look at are Uganda and Botswana.

Recently Donovan Palmer, director of YWAM England, was able to participate in an conference with the UN about the HIV/AIDS Crisis. Here is an excerpt from his article:
It is important for us to come to meetings like this because the UN acknowledges the need for faith based organisations to participate, but even more important that a Christian perspective needs to be offered. Our message needs to be one of love, compassion, but also true to our faith. People tell me over and over that they are so glad that YWAM is in the UN.
It's great to hear that we have been able to participate in these sorts of setting and have a positive influence. You can read his full article at Donovan's Blog: A very intense week!.
