Proud to be a Canadian

Posted on Thursday, July 5, 2007 in Other
In response to a comment on my "Happy Canada Day" post I present these reasons that I am glad to be a Canadian:

Some Canadian Inventions:
  • Insulin
  • Telephone
  • Light Bulb
  • Zipper
  • Canadarm
  • Standard Time (current time-zones)
  • Ski-Doo
  • Basketball
  • Walkie-Talkie
  • Electric Oven
  • Radio Voice Transmission
A few other reasons:
  • The first ever recorded baseball game was played in Canada on June 4, 1838
  • Canada is the homeland of modern ice hockey
  • Canada is the worlds second largest nation

  • We share the worlds longest undefended border with the US
  • Two official languages (English and French)
Some possible controversial reasons:
I could go on, but I want to leave the comments open for other people to comment.

Oh yeah, and Happy 4th of July to my American readers. There are some pretty good things about your country too.

I am glad that you acknowledged the French in that post Bill. Most Canadians would deny all relations with the REAL roots of Canada, the French Canadians. I am a little sad you didn't mention Celine Dion or how you guys legalized same-sex marriage. Both mentionable when it comes to things about Canada. Wouldn't you say Bill? I'm just trying to get back at you for all those French jokes you used to tell. I would list things that came out of the USA but, well, I don't think it would fit in one blog nor would it do justice. But hey, at least Canada has some things. I better be quiet now, you guys might come down and burn the white house down.

- Who are you and why didn't you add "again"?

I wish that you would put your name on your comment, because I have no idea who you are...

That list is a VERY short list of all that Canada has accomplished.

Canada burnt down Washington once before, as part of the British Empire in 1814, but we probably couldn't be bothered doing it again. We can be a bit apathetic at times...

Hi Bill, my name is Sam Werner and I'm half Canadian and half American. My Canadian side is actually French Canadian. But seriously, don't burn down our White House. Do the new servers still work???

- I thought it was you...

Yeah Sam, I thought it was you, especially after the French comment.

I did the test and came up with a somewhat disappointing score. I posted my score in the comments on http://cottrillcompass.com/blog/2007/canada-quiz.html
