Do Blogs Support Terrorists?

Posted on Thursday, August 4, 2005 in Web Development

I have been looking around for a blogging package that we can set-up for our staff. students and alumni.  There are so many out there that it can get quite confusing.  Here is the "short list" of ones that I have loaded on my local computer:
  1. Mambo
  2. Open PHP Nuke
  3. Post Nuke
  4. Xoops2
  5. Simple CMS
  6. Typo3
  7. Nucleus
  8. Word Press
  9. Word Press Multi User
  10. Drupal
While I was looking at these packages I came across a disclaimer from one of them stating that although a known terrorist group was using there software, they did not support terrorism (sorry, I can't remember which one).

It reminded me of a story a while back of Toyota having to defend the fact that the Taliban used their trucks for transport.  Toyota's line on that was that they used the truck for the same reasons they are so popular in the Australian Outback, they're hard wearing and do a great job.

That also got me thinking about the new blog package that I'll be trying to set-up for our users here, I need to make sure to include a disclaimer stating that the views expressed on their blogs do not represent that of the organization.  Gosh, what a world we live in...
