VoIP
Right now we are in midst of a major telephone system upgrade. We are switching from an older digital phone system (Commander NT40) to a new digital and VoIP phone system (Commander BCM). By sticking with the same brand we were actually able to leverage a lot from our old system because we can reuse all the phones that we currently own, which saves us a bucket load of money. The VoIP is a feature that I am looking forward to playing around with. Because of our Virtual Private Network (VPN) set-up on base the VoIP feature will actually allow us to be connected into the phone system from anywhere in the world that we can get an Internet Connection. It's pretty impressive I think.
Probably one of the first ways that we are going to use it is with our office up in Darwin, that way they can set-up their reception computer so that it is just an extention of our phone system, which will save us a lot in call costs. Also we will be able to assign numbers to our traveling teams so that we can talk with them quite easily as well.
Speaking of VoIP though you need to check out these wireless VoIP headset. They sure looks cool:
