OPTIMUS PRIMETake the Transformers Quiz
Yep, I admit it, I used to watch the Transformer Cartoons and read the comics when I was kid.
I think that I still have some of the Transformer comics at home somewhere.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I can't believe that Bubble Bee isn't a Volkswagen Bug anymore!

An Interview with Superman
The YWAM School of Digital Communications just complete their week of teaching on using Final Cut Pro. During the school the students learn about print, video and web development. The embedded video is one of the schools creations. It was directed by Justin Claypool and stars Jared Hoover as Clark Kent.
There are a few special appearances by other staff at YWAM - Reef to Outback and it's quite a funny video I reckon, the funniest one that I have seen produced by the YWAM SDC so far...

The Da Vinci Code - Christian Responses
There has been a lot of discussion of The Da Vinci Code around work here at YWAM - Reef to Outback. A few of the guys went to see the movie last week and they were not too impressed, especially given the build up to it. Most of the comments from them that I heard had more to do with the quality of movie, rather than the Christ references in it.The Christian community seems to have really taken a lot of interest in this movie. There has been a lot of debate about the movie and one theatre here in Australia even went so far as to ban the movie because the owner felt it went against his beliefs. I have unfortunately not read the book yet, and I don't think that I will be seeing it in the theatre either (I don't really get to watch movies in the theatre any more).
In the Christian community there seem to be two different camps in their response to the movie. One is all about boycotting it and the other is wanting to engage in the conversation and buzz that it is generating. There are of course Christians in the middle of the debate, but those are the two opposing view points.
One of the best post on the debate is LivingRoom A space for Life: The Da Vinci Code - A Christian Response. I am very much in the category of engaging in the debate, although I am not up to scratch on it at all since like I said before, I haven't seen the movie or read the book. The above article reflects that point of view.
Below are a few other opinions on how Christians should respond to The Da Vinci Code. I think the express both sides of the debate:
- coupers.org: Da Vinci Code ... is the fuss necessary?
- Think Christian: Da Vinci Code: beyond the debunking
- Think Christian: Defeating Da Vinci
- Think Christian: Brian McLaren on the Da Vinci Code

The Fifth Element
Good
movie starring Bruce Willis and a very brief cameo with Luke Perry,
which still warrants a headline credit which was kind of funny.
It's got a lot of action and is generally a fun movie, even if it isn't
a real intelegent one.Although the language is pretty good there is unfortunately a bit of nudity in the movie. Because of that bit of nudity though I can't recommend it for a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS).

Supernova
Don't do it, don't even start to watch it, you will regret it.It was a made for TV movie staring Luke Perry and Tia Carrere. The only reason that I stayed up to watch the whole thing, all 3.5 hours of it, was because I had told my mom, who had went to bed an hour into it, that I would tell her how it ended.
I'll save you the trouble of watching the movie. It was a mistake. The equation predicting the end of the world was a mistake. That's all! Nothing amazing, just a stupid little "+" sign instead of a "-" sign mistake.
Take my advise and spend that 3.5 hours doing something more worthwhile like sleeping or watching paint dry (especially if it's paint that you just painted while helping me get our house ready to move into).
Here is a link to the Channel 7 blurb about the movie - Channel 7: Supernova
