Free Book from Mission Aviation Fellowship

Posted on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 in Other
You can get a free copy of Jungle Pilot from Mission Aviation Fellowship on their web-site. The book Jungle Pilot is about:
In 1956, pilot Nate Saint and four other missionaries were killed in Ecuador by the Waodani(Auca) Indians they had come to serve. Now Nate's gripping story of faithful service for Christ is brought up to date through the epilogue written by his son, Steve.
I heard a lot about this on a Steven Curtis Chapman DVD that we watched which included interviews with Steve Saint and a member of the Waodani Indians. It was an extremely powerful message of forgiveness and faith.

I have already ordered my free book to be delivered to Australia (they deliver worldwide) and I am really looking forward to reading it.

No Call Register in Australia - Coming in May

Posted on Friday, February 2, 2007 in Other
It looks like the no call register is coming closer to reality now here in Australia:
I am definitely looking forward to the day that I can sit down to dinner and not be interrupted by these annoying phone calls. The tend to call usually between 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, and in the evening from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.

You can read some other deceitful tactics that telemarketers use in Australia at "Deceitful Telemarketing Tactics".

What do you think of the no call register finally getting set-up in Australia? Feel free to comment below, or write your own post and link to this site.

Free E-Mail Marketing and Design Guide

Posted on Thursday, February 1, 2007 in Other
Most of us in YWAM use e-mail for a lot of our communications. I have used a few different products to try to handle sending bulk HTML e-mails to financial and prayer supporters but I have not really found one that I am fully happy with (currently I am using MailList Controller, the free version requires me to export my Outlook contact list to an Access database in 100 user chunks to work).

MailChimp, which is an on-line e-mail list management service from what I can tell, is offering a free e-book about managing online e-mail campaigns and designing and coding HTML e-mails. I am about to download it to have a look, but thought I would link to the free book for others to check out if you want to:

BBQ Tools at BCF vs. Bunnings

Posted on Monday, January 15, 2007 in Other
This weekend we were out shopping for a tent and some other camping stuff. We went to purchase a Wiltshire BBQ Spatula (the Wiltshire Bar-B-Mate) and we almost purchased it at BCF for $17.00, but since it was just across the street from Bunnings (probably my most visited store besides a grocery store, it's sort of like Home Depot, but a bit smaller) I figured that we would check there first.

Well, it was definately worth the extra 10-minutes as the Wiltshire Bar-B-Mate BBQ Spatula only cost $9.95 at Bunnings.

Crazy eh?

I needed to buy a tarp later on the weekend so I went straight to Bunnings without even bothering with the camping stores...

Tim McGraw's Latest Music Video - "Last Dollar"

Posted on Saturday, January 6, 2007 in Other
Tim McGraw seems to be really embracing the web with putting out his music. On his web-site, www.timmcgraw.com, you can actually listen to a lot of his music for free on-line, and you can also watch his latest video. But to promote his latest single, Last Dollar, I am actually able to embed it on my own site. So here it is...

Crappy Christian Tippers

Posted on Thursday, November 16, 2006 in Other
This is a bit of a depressing story about how we as Christians sometimes represent Christ so poorly to the world that we live in that we cause people to harden their hearts to the message of Christ.
Here in Australia is is actually normal not to tip, so I wonder if the experience is still similar here.
