Tesla Roadster test
Posted at 9:40 PM, 4/14/2008
During the FMVSS testing, the Tesla Roadster had to pass about 40
tests, among which were the “Windshield Defrosting and Defogging”
(which means that, after the vehicle is started, specific areas of the
windshield have to be cleared in a specified time and which the car
passed without problems, due to the electrically powered PTC heating
system, which start heating the windshield as soon as the car is
started), “Rear View Mirrors” (important rearward areas must be visible
via the mirrors), “Flammability of Interior Materials”, “Lights” (the
front lights need to meet the FMVSS prescribed intensity and lighting
pattern to provide sufficient illumination and avoid dazzling oncoming
traffic). Source: Tesla Motors Tags: Exhauxt System

not eco-friendly
Posted at 9:30 PM, 4/14/2008
Speed bumps are probably suspensions’ worst nightmare
because I’m sure it happened to me also to drive
at night, miss a speed bump at 40 mph and knock my head into the
car’s ceiling. But recent studies show that speed bump are not only bad
for our car and our head, but they also harm the planet. Funny, huh?
Well, actually the study, made by Britain’s Automobile Association,
shows that the cars’ mileage drops a lot (almost 50%) when having to
brake and accelerate in order to pass over speed bump. They took a 58
mpg car running a constant 30 mph, ran it over speed bumps and
discovered that the mileage dropped to 31 mpg.

Trabant brand
Posted at 9:25 PM, 4/14/2008
Herpa, a miniature car models German manufacturer,
which currently owns the rights for the Trabant brand announced some
time ago, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, that it will try to take the
“Initiative newTrabi”, in hope it will manage to revive the German car.
Now, due to the positive feedback they received at Frankfurt, the
company announced that they came to an agreement with IndiKar,
Saxony-based car parts manufacturer and is seems that the Trabant is
closer to production.
It would be good to see a new Trabant roaming the streets, because I
always thought of Trabant as a cute car and I know for some people it’s
actually a cult.

Corvette monster truck
Posted at 9:21 PM, 4/14/2008
Once again, eBay is the place for the weirdest
most interesting cars i get to see around here. And here’s the latest
one. This thing you see here is a Corvette
monster truck, built on a Ford platform. Cool, huh? The car was built
by some dude in Hastings, Michigan, has a Chevrolet Corvette body
placed on a 1976 Ford F-350 chassis and features, among others, a
nitrous kit also. The current bid is $3,050 and the Buy It Now price is
set to $9,500.

Lancia Delta
Posted at 9:19 PM, 4/14/2008
Lancia plans on bringing back their legendary Lancia Delta and the new car will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The car is based on the Lancia HPE Concept presented two years ago at the same Geneva show.
The new Lancia Delta will be built on the Fiat Bravo platform and it
will basically be a more luxurious Bravo. That’s about all the info we
have so far and it makes us wonder, will this be enough to revive the
Delta legend?

Uirapuru super car
Posted at 8:58 PM, 4/14/2008
The Uirapuru, also known as the Brasinca 4200 GT, is a
60s sports car that has a very interesting history. Created in 1964 by
Rigoberto Soler, the car was produced in only 76 units, which makes it
a very rare car. Also, rumors say that its design inspired the famous
Jensen Interceptor. Its name, Uirapuru, comes from a very rare
Amazonian bird whose song is considered to be one of the most beautiful
in the world.. The Auto Parts will be 3,93 m long, 1,90 m wide and 1,17 m high, with a
wheelbase of 2,73 m and it will be powered by a Judd GV5 Sports Racing
V8 engine, that generates over 600 hp when running until 7,800 rpm and
more that 800 hp when running at up to 10,000 rpm. Besides that, the
creators are also thinking of creating the Uirapuru with a GM 3.6 liter
V6 Alloytec engine.

PGO Cévennes Turbo-CNG
Posted at 8:55 PM, 4/14/2008
I can say that Geneva will be the perfect place for PGO Automobiles
of France and BRA GmbH in Germany to present their PGO Cévennes Turbo-CNG natural gas powered car.
TheAuto Auto Parts is powered by a 1.6 liter turbo engine that produces
150hp and only emitts 118 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The car can
travel up to 450km on a single tank and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h
(62 mph) in 6.5 seconds. Not really an original design for the car,
which looks almost exactly like the legendary Porsche Speedster, but at
least the numbers look good.
I don’t know for sure when this car will go into production but we
know that its pricing will be of around 44,000 Euros.

Rinspeed sQuba Concept
Posted at 8:46 PM, 4/14/2008
The car, which will definitely be one of Geneva show’s attraction,
allows you to drive it around, just like any other “normal” car, us it
as a boat and, if you open the doors and let the water in you also be
able to use it as a submarine, up to a depth of 10 metres. It is the Rinspeed sQuba Concept the Auto Parts is 3.79 m long, 1.94 m wide and
1.12 m tall, with a wheelbase of 2,30 m. The electric engine produces
54 kW (73 hp) at 4,500 rpm and a torque of 160 Nm at 1,500 rpm and it
accelerates the car from 0 to 80 km/h (50 mph) in 7.1 seconds and to a
top speed of 120 km/h (not much, but it’s the legal speed limit in most
countries). The car weights about 920 kg and so far we don’t have any
details on its autonomy.
I'm really curious to get a look at the Geneva Motor Show,.

turn it into a taxi
Posted at 8:35 PM, 4/14/2008
Some of you might remember the world’s fastest taxi. But, while the Lamborghini Murcielago
might be the fastest, it sure isn’t the most comfortable. And here are
some taxis in Russia (where else?!) which really give you a comfy
drive. Yeah, those are a Maybach and a Porsche Cayenne. Now, if we
might say that the Cayenne is not such a surprise, who the heck would
spend at least $600,000 to buy a Maybach and then turn it into a taxi.
So, next time you’re in Russia and don’t want to get into a Lada cab,
you might get lucky and ride into one of these, though that woul
probably hurt your wallet pretty bad. Source: English Russia Tags: Fender Car Parts

80s Cars
Posted at 3:45 AM, 3/29/2008
It's obvious that some RWD cars from the 80s are starting to become
more sought after--AE86 Corollas, 5.0 Mustangs, Buick Grand Nationals,
etc. But are some FWD 80s cars becoming collectible, too? Are car parts prices on
the rise? Check out this low miles 1985 Dodge Charger Shelby Turbo on eBay.

Dodge

Dodge is serious about getting its feet wet in the green-performance
segment, though it remains to be seen whether they're serious about
pushing such a sexy and muscular car parts to production. If they did, it just
might outshine Chevy's gorgeous Volt! Check out more pics over at Autoblog.

watcha think?
Posted at 3:27 AM, 3/29/2008

Something tells me this news isn't going to go over well with the Mopar-or-no-car crowd. Auto Week is reporting production versions of the Demon concept will be front-wheel drive and built on a Chinese platform. So much for competing to the car parts of the Miata, Solstice or Sky. What do you guys think? Should Dodge even bother building it?

Creepy or Just Plain Cool?
Posted at 3:23 AM, 3/29/2008
I am a big fan of vans. I'm not talking about the modern minivans of
today, but the great vans of yesteryear. Mainly those of the late 60s
and early 70s. Dodge Vans in general fall into one of two categories: creepy
or cool. I just love them and think they're
just plain cool. Simply put, this thing is COOL. What do you think?

Here Comes the Challenger!

of the unveiling.
Here are the official photos and production information on the 2009
Dodge Challenger. The final say from Ma Mopar should put an end to all
the speculation: production is set for April 21, 2008 and availability
should be May or June 2008. The first 5,000 cars will all be SRT8
models with the 6.1 liter Hemi and automatic transmission. Other models
will follow, including base models auto parts will be equipped with the 3.5 HO V6.. For the rest of the option list
and some killer photos, check out Left Lane News and Allpar.com. The official Dodge site has some pretty cool stuff too, including video of the unveiling.

Track Package

They ran back-to-back hot laps with the Viper SRT10 and its evil twin,
the SRT10 ACR, compared Lambo's Gallardo Spyder to its tarted-up
sister, the Superleggera, and pitted Porsche's Carrera S against its
big, burly cousin, the GT3 RS. They also took a look at the numbers and
tried to determine whether Ferrari's 430 Scuderia and the Corvette ZR1
will really deliver over their standard brethren. The article is way
cool"and it'll make you wonder exactly how someone gets a job at Road

Edmunds just published a comparison test to the Auto Parts between the Pontiac G8 GT and

be superior in just about every category, despite its lower price. Read the full test at Edmunds.

Challenger

The charity auction for the one and only blue 2008 Challenger
ended, and the car went for a whopping $228k. Not as high as
the Challenger #1, which fetched $400k, but still, not a bad haul for
the Victory Junction Gang Camp, which helps out kids with serious
diseases. Tags: Auto Parts

Louis Vuitton ad
Posted at 2:53 AM, 3/29/2008
John Buscema of XV Motorsports
was pretty surprised when he learned that one of the Challengers he
built would appear in a Louis Vuitton ad. Turns out Louis Vuitton had
seen the Challenger he sold to artist Richard Prince
while it was on display in a museum in London. So now you can see it in
the current issues of Vogue and Elle. Apparently Louis Vuitton has a
whole series with models lying on American muscle of the Auto Body Parts. Hope they
didn't mess up the paint.
