'The shooter was a student,' so sayeth the news.
Well, not to be too snarky here, but um...duh. He knew specifically where his targets were and he took enough chains to barricade the entires and exits of Norris hall so that his targets wouldn't escape. I'm no cop, but I think that demonstrates a pretty decent working knowledge of one's environment.
There is so much about this that is eating away at me. Larry used to work at Va. Tech and I used to live a few miles away (plus I still have relatives in the area), so I feel connected to the people there, and this whole thing is so completely horrible I'm at a loss to express it. Is it possible that the two shootings weren't linked? The police seem to think so, yet they also say that there's no reason to believe that if a second shooter exists, he's still walking around armed somewhere.
Okay. But if the police and various government law enforcement have no one in custody and the dead shooter is not the gunman in the first shootings, then it's not unreasonable to assume he's out and about elsewhere. The contradictory stories are not helpful. Makes me feel that I need to call DJ and check on her, just in case a shooter is running about unchecked in her area.
Press conference. More later.
