Scientology is a ridiculous philosophy based upon the scribblings of a very poor science fiction writer (Ray Bradbury he was NOT) that trains people to believe we are all actually extraterrestrials underneath our skin and that one day a big space ship will come to cart us all off.

It is a philosophy, not a religion. Religion is supposed to be uplifting. Considering the groups' insistence upon separating new recruits from their friends and family it is probably more a cult than anything else. Only cults demand such complete adherence to a doctrine and complete separation from friends and family. Religions also do not demand great sums of money from their members in exchange for classes that allow you to climb higher within the organization, though many do demand that you give up all earthly interests/possessions. Generally religious organizations do ask for money but not as payment for allowing you to be further brainwashed into thinking you will be pushed up into an elite group of their specific 'order'.

Anyway, I'm getting off-topic. Scientology, as utterly ridiciculous as it is, is not satanism.

Tom Cruise, as demented and laughable as he is, is not a satanist.

Self-important and deluded? Absolutely.
Self-proclaimed expert in fields he has never studied to practice? Yes indeed.
Self-righteous wackadoo who brainwashed a young girl into joining a stupid so-called 'religion' and cutting ties with much of her family? You betcha.

But not a satanist. Satanism, unlike scientology is an actual religion, and a much misunderstood one at that. Satan is a figurehead, the real central figure of satanism is the self. Satan was chosen to represent this religion because Anton LaVey loathed what he saw as christian hypocrisy and lip service, and Satan seemed the perfect figure to represent a new movement based upon the polar opposite of christian teachings. If satanism believes in anything, it is probably the Aleister Crowley philosophy, 'and do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law'.

People need to stop making the mistake of putting everything that isn't christianity/islam into the 'satanist' category.

I'm not saying Tom Cruise should be allowed to make a movie in Germany, indeed anywhere he goes stupidity and insults to women, psychiatry and psychology (a field I have personally been greatly helped by), abound.

But if you're going to ban him and his ambient ridiculousness based upon religious reasons, at least know what the hell his 'religion' is, for fuck's sake.
