The babies were sick all weekend with a miserable cold but are mostly over it, except for a phlegmy and very uncomfortable sounding cough that brought so much congestion with it that they had to have nebulizer treatments. Trent got it last Wednesday and by Thursday he was absolutely ill. By Friday morning he had been refusing food and fluids for almost 48 hours so I took him to the doctor, which resulted in the usual 'it's a virus, he'll just have to ride it out' - BUT if we can't get him to take any fluids you'll have to take him to the emergency room. By Saturday Zoe had it. Same bug, same advice from the doctor, who I talked with via phone because on the weekends you only get to see said doctor in the morning.
Sunday: John got it. He came home from his dad's house congested, exhausted, coughing and feeling utterly wretched. Today he still feels awful (worse, in fact, then he did yesterday) which is especially terrible, as Larry got him Manson tickets, the concert is tonight and there's no way in hell we're going.
I'm not exactly in love with Slayer, who will also be performing tonight, but John is, so missing it sucks twice a much from his perspective.
Marilyn Manson. I'm missing Marilyn Manson. Whom I have never seen live.
Now I feel sick.
They were good seats too. The pair cost $140. Larry gave them to John as a gift for his 19th birthday (I have pictures from John's party but won't be downloading them to this goddess-forsaken iMac, so I have none to post) and we were both really looking forward to it.
THEN, the capper; the decomposed and malodorous cherry atop the maggot-infested garbage and diarrhea sundae - Passions has been cancelled.
Yeah, I know.
I haven't been with it from the beginning like a lot of other people, but I've been hopelessly hooked since 2003 and I HATE that it got cancelled. Actually, I should say it's relocating because Direct TV picked it up and it will be airing there as of mid-September. I don't read Soap Magazines so I had no idea about this until this afternoon. Funny, as I had been watching the show and thinking, 'well the rest of the day has sucked, but at least Passions is on'.
Technically I could still watch it but I'd have to get the cable turned off, mount a satellite dish (also known in these parts as the 'West Virginia state flower') on our roof and then pay a hell of a lot more for shitty service that goes out every time the wind blows or a bird poops on the roof. And still pay for cable so we maintain our internet access. Stuff that.
Sheesh. Both babies are going to be attending the same school at the same time this fall *more on that later*, so I was really looking forward to enjoying Passions uninterrupted as part of a quiet afternoon or while doing the housework. Not gonna happen.
What's going on in it's place? From what I've been able to find online, looks like in lieu of drama-filled Passions-y goodness we'll be treated to another sublimely dull hour of The Today Show. Boy Howdy. Break out the popcorn, Edna - more Willard on the TV box!!
So yeah, Monday sucks.
