Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, has died. He was 69 years old.
I only played the paper version once or twice myself, but my best friend in high school actually went to the local college once a week for about two years to play a live-action, costumed version. Said it was wicked fun, and I know it really allowed him to flex his creative muscle, as some of his writing assignments were unreal.
D&D is one of the three most influential concepts of the 20th century; one of those things that inspired countless writers, film makers and video game producers to set their inner brilliance to work and create (the other two being Star Wars and the collective works of J.R.R. Tolkien).
Gary Gygax is survived by his wife, Gail and six children.
