8/30/2007 - An Excerpt from A Confusion by Alexandra Bongcac

An Excerpt from A Confusion by Alexandra Bongcac:

"Sometimes I get tired and I thought I could rest my thoughts in serenity but my eyes kept me awake in my bed. Nothing to stare at but total oblivion and nothing in particular to think about but what life holds for me at present. It’s weird when you get accustomed to your life partner you could not imagine how life would be without him. Like a soul without a body or a map without roads, there’s no telling where to go, only an endless loop of bewildered goals, disoriented existence with no definite purpose for being.

I’ve felt like that and I feel like that now. I wonder why love does this to us or why we allow ourselves such ordeal. If love makes us blind am I to be one of those who refuse to see?

My life force has been drained out of me that what I have left is only enough to keep my lungs breathing air into my body. What good is the relationship when one has his love withered away with the circumstance? What is my reason for staying now when he has extinguished his amber for me?

I’m like a corpse waiting to be disposed of, incarcerated in a pyre of angst and revenge. My flesh can only take so much of it because when I perish I shall only exist in what little memory he has left of me. Only if his heart still remembers."
