2/17/2008 - a second chance encounter...

Call it coincidence, call it fate. I call it a sign (and an evil laugh bursts out from inside of me). A sign yeah, but from where (and again another devilish giggle)?

A day before hearts' day he was back in our humble station, hopefully ready to provide answers to my unending questions. Jude Gitamondoc melodiously playing on his keyboards for Miss Raki Vega, and voila! another chance to coerce him to talk! Pardon me for I may sound mercilessly extracting the info out of Jude (hahaha... i guess I was) but curiousity was killing me! His contagious laughs and shy smiles have all been his answers except for one line in which he said something like it began when he was in the seminary. I'm talking about no less than the coming into writing of that now fanous lyrics of In Another Lifetime. I do sound redundant and somewhat infatuated by the song and I believe I am, so what the heck! Now the wheels are turning! I started patching up the holes with some puzzle pieces Jude left for me to solve. The love that inspired a writer to bring to life the words that would touch so many lives, ah, such is the emotion, such is the agony, such is the longing!

Back to Jude's seminary where it started, but no, he had said something about a poem someone had given to Raki which somehow tags the concept of "in another lifetime" and thus the title was conceived. The seminary was apparently a reason for not becoming, somehow a hindrance to the unconsumated love and yet it was a choice he had to make at that point in time. I speculated whether the lady love of his life was wed to another so that when he came out of the institution he had no other chance to make that love come into fruition. Maybe at least in the corner of his mind and in the deepest chamber of his heart this writer would fulfill the yearning in a wishful thinking - in a life beyond this one.

Apparently Jude has his own doubts of the so-called life thereafter, rebirth and the like. For all he knew that this might turn me off of this natural high but his admission never really put off the spark of hope I've long had in me. It only ignited it as if challenged to prove there is as such. Who knows right? Yeah, who knows?

Jude was as firm as an oak tree- stubbornly unyielding - and he'd not let me on to his secret. I sighed because the ride was almost over and he hasn't spilled it out yet! He gets off the pick-up truck and leaves me hanging on the edge of my seat with a line - "there is part two." Dang! What a tease!!!

So here I am again, lost in my thoughts of the what has, what if's and why's of the world. I find it fascinating and marvelous how one or a few words could lead to a song, but that's just part of its history. Now as another chapter of our lives unfold, we could only think that maybe yeah in another lifetime whatever was not meant to be now could come true. We could only hope to live one more lifetime to find out.
