A abused substance study by a group of German investigators published in the current issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics indicates that brief group psychotherapy is helpful for opening fears of disease run (FoP) in career with chronic arthritis or cancer. The interventions comprised either cognitive-behavioral group therapy or supportive-experiential group therapy. The task force tested whether these generic interventions would prove productive in novel illness types.
