11/26/2022 - Roulette " The World’s Most Popular Game of Chance
At first, casinos were created to be an establishment for gambling; and gambling houses are out of the question without Roulette. That very famous game (which in French means as "small wheel") consists of a table with a board (the place where players place their bets) and the roulette wheel with the aid of which the winning position is determined. Time and rate of bets are stated by the players but it is possible to ask the dealer to set them as well.
A lot of legends exist about the invention of Roulette. Just as with the history of the casino itself, there is no universally-accepted version here. They say that a gambling game with a rotating panel, balanced on the edge of the sword, was practiced in ancient Greece. Roman emperor Augustus supposedly used a wheel from a battle chariot set on a vertical axis for the same game.
The most popular version of the creation of roulette names Blaise Pascal, the French philosopher and mathematician, as a creator. In the middle of the XVII century, while developing the theory of probability, he created a wheel with spinning cylinders and accurately marked and placed in order numbers and combinations for scientific purposes. Perhaps Pascal did not anticipate that his invention would become synonymous with games of chance and would gain millions of fans. Also, the church was more skeptical and immediately called his roulette a "heretical element". The main reason in favor of this was the fact that the total of all digits on the roulette board is an apocalyptic number - 666.
Some historians argue that the idea of roulette traces its origins to ancient China. Among its residents a game called "Magic Square" was very popular. It used thirty-seven small figurines of various animals. Unfortunately, supporters of this explanation cannot describe the game play that was used in those days. They say Dominican monks supposedly perfected the game by attaching figurines to the wheel, and then only numbers remained. But the documentary evidence of this explanation doesn't exist. Also there are some assumptions that Roulette was invented by French monks who were bored and wanted to add excitement to their lives.
Regardless of the origins and transformation of the game, it has become an exiciting game in the late eighteenth - early 19th centuries, and has earned a prestigious place in the casinos of Europe.
In any case, Roulette is a great way to spend time and unwind. Nowadays, there are many online casinos where you can play this game with a long history even without going outside.
