Dr. Robert MaloneyDr. Robert Maloney, is a Summa Cum Laude graduate and previous Rhodes scholar of Harvard University. Dr. Robert Maloney finished his education at Oxford University and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Maloney was the first doctor in the western North Americas to carry out LASIK surgery as part of the FDA's original clinical trials. He is the medical professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, LA and is the director of the Maloney Vision Institute, in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Robert Maloney was voted as one of America's top ten vision-correction specialists in a nationwide survey conducted by Ophthalmology Times. Dr. Robert Maloney has educated more than 700 surgeons in the use of the excimer laser and has personally performed more than 40,000 vision-correction surgeries. Dr. Robert Maloney is the recipient of the 2001 Distinguished Lens Award. This award was presented by the International Society of Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Robert Maloney received this award for his ground-breaking assistance to the field of vision-correction surgery. The American Academy of Ophthalmology has awarded Dr. Robert Maloney the Senior Honor Award. This award is for contributions to the education of other eye physicians. The American Academy of Ophthalmology also awarded Robert Malony the Secretariat Award for distinguished contributions to the Academy. Robert Maloney has published more than 100 abstracts, articles, and reports in expert journals and has completed more than 200 lectures on five continents. Robert Maloney's research is focused on creating technologies which are new to vision correction surgery. This includes the implantable contact lens and the light-adjustable lens, and on complications of vision-correction surgery. Robert Maloney has been a principal investigator for fourteen FDA clinical trials. Dr. Robert Maloney has a special clinic devoted to treating patients who have had complications from prior vision correction surgery. Dr. Robert Maloney has appeared frequently on TV as the exclusive LASIK surgeon for the ABC hit series Extreme Makeover. Robert Malony has been interviewed by the Discovery Channel, the Learning Channel, NBC's Extra, ABC's 20/20 and Prime Time Live, PBS's Life and Times, and CNN's The World Today. Dr. Maloney has also been featured in magazines and newspapers. Dr. Robert Maloney was born in Los Angeles, California. His present position is director of the Robert Maloney Vision Institute.
