    12/12/2007 - More Thoughts for November 15th

I have been thinking about My Recent past in my struggle to overcome addiction and BPD, And I came to some important realizations. One is that I Did get clean off of Drugs without Rehab (although I went several times without finishing a program ) But did so by running away from my addiction to a place where I could not find my drugs of choice, I think that to overcome this Monster of Drug addiction you have to go to Treatment and complete It. Especially if you have severe emotional and mental issues such as I do. The truth is one can run away from anything in Life But eventually they will have to Face that they try to escape. Eventually I will be face to face with the Meth Monster yet Again and what will I have To deal with That ?? I will not have The Tools that one aquires through a rigerous Treatment program, I will not have the Tools of sticking with something and facing a demon. I have always ran away from problems and what has happened But be be faced with that same situation in the future with nothing to help me do something different. People say that the definition of Sanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, But The reason for this in my view is that you cannot achive different results if you do not take a different path. A Pro Athlete will not reach great heights in their profession if they do not work at their Art or Sport. The same goes for the Addict or Person trying to overcome any adversity at all, If you do nothing to Fix the Defect then Nothing will Happen, Things do not get better on their own, It takes work. It rings true with everything, When you have a cold, If you do not take medicine then the cold will stay and get worse. The same goes for recovery from addiction or Pschriatric Problems, If you just sit by and do not work on that you suffer from then it will only fester and get worse, Life takes work and effort and as hard as It may be to push forward in certain struggles, It is needed if one hopes to Come out on Top. Life is either a Dring Adventure or nothing at all, that means that you must be WILLING to do whatever it takes to succeed. Sure, survival is a Vital part of getting through difficult times But eventually you need to do more than get by, You need to rise above and take ACTION . He who takes no action, sees no Results ! I suffered many overdoses due to Meth abuse over the last two years and of course had my most difficult year emotionally last yr with my BPD taking over my Life ending me in Hospital after Hospital , Suicide attempt after another.. But I SURVIVED , Now I must make sure that I continue to make progress and do not go back down that same Dark Road. There are three stages of overcoming Adversity and Pain in my Opinion..... Stage One - Is Survival, Almost like "Fake it until You make it" Get through the difficult time until you have the tools to Be stronger and Stand Taller. Stage Two- Is Growth, One must learn from their past in order to Not make the same mistakes in The future and be more able to deal with difficult situations in The Future, To understand where you have been, where you are Now, and where you want To Go. Stage Three- USE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPIERIENCE TO HELP OTHERS AND HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE WORLD !
