-First off, about the title, these are the most literal translations for the terms used in Dutch to describe the people concerned. They are a bit harsh, yes, but I just want to be accurate-

A growing problem in the Netherlands are the so-called 'Breezer sluts'. Those are young girls, usually 11-13 years old, who have sex with older men for a Bacardi Breezer, and think of their behavior as perfectly normal. The problem isn't even new, but as of late it has expanded throughout the country whereas a few years ago it was merely a big city problem. You can't even say that it's just girls of immigrant backgrounds. Even when the problem was strictly urban as many of these girls were native Dutch as were foreign.

What has caused these girls to behave this way is a mystery, but it is a fact that Dutch parents are really careless when it comes to their children and alcohol. A couple of years ago researches showed that many parents would buy their nine-year-olds alcohol, most notably Bacardi Breezer, and even put it in their lunch boxes for school. Since this news came out you don't see kids as young as nine drink alcohol anymore, but a lot of parents don't have a problem with their kids getting drunk every weekend by the time they turn thirteen or fourteen. And what is more, since bars don't generally admit kids under the age of sixteen they let their children have parties in the barn, or the garage, where they can get drunk pretty much undre their watchful eyes.

Another alcoholic problem that is slowly gaining a foothold is a 'game' that is very popular among German teens: coma boozing. That's pretty self-explanatory: drink till you fall into a coma. Every couple of weeks there's news from Germany that another fourteen-year-old has spent days in a coma after drinking fifty shots or more of tequila, vodka, you name it, and we in the Netherlands have had two cases of this as well, the first case involving a thirteen year old girl who nearly died.

There aren't even any media campaigns against this to speak of. There was a commercial featuring a kid trapped in a bottle and doing all sorts of crazy stuff, while normal kids around him just went on with their lives, but I can't say I have ever seen the commercial more than twice a week.

Just in case you don't know what a Bacardi Breezer is: that's a mixed drink of fruit juice and Bacardi rum. There are many different flavors, most of which are really astonishingly sweet, as they're full of sugar. The actual alcohol content isn't that high, but because of the sugar you can get drunk pretty soon anyway.
