Ah! Summer has arrived. In fact it has been upon us for this past week. For the past three days we, Holland and Belgium, have been the hottest region in Europe, with temperatures in some places reaching eighty degrees. The whole month of April has been a record breaker anyways, when it comes to these temperatures this early in the year, but also when it comes to drought. It hasn't rained since March 26, and no rain is forecast for the next eight days. Beyond that they simply can't tell. Fortunately, over the ages, this country has gathered great expertise when it comes to water management, so this isn't going to be a big problem for the forseeable future.
Next week the temperatures will drop slightly, to the low seventies and upper sixties, but with the sunshine the weather will remain wonderful. Southern Europe aren't even getting these temperatures. They're in the mid to upper sixties. I pity all these families traveling in the May break that started yesterday. They'd have had better weather if they'd stay here. Oh well, these people have a habit of sending postcards in which they make fun of the weather back home. Serves them well.
A really positive side to the story is my hay fever. My greatest misery always occurs early in the season, and I've already had the worst of it, a good month early. The downside are the bugs. This summer we'll see a lot of mosquitos, wasps, bees, ticks (my no. 1 phobia), etc. Oh well.
If the Dutch expertise on water doesn't help us, by the way, there was an appeal on the radio this morning to join in a ritual rain dance.
I wish I could live summer where 80 was considered hot for the summer, up here when summer really gets kicking we can reach tripple digits, just yesturday it was 94 and we are not suppose to reach those kind of tempatures in the spring, so it looks like it is going to be one hot summer
G'day,
Crikey! I would bet you you have more water in the land of windmills and tulips, than this arid nation of Australia. If we don't get good rain soon, I don't think we will have to worry about being up that well known creek in a barb wire canoe without a paddle. No water, so won't sink. "Who won the World Cup Cricket Final?" Your prediction for the final two was good. I was thinking
New Zealand would make it, to the final...I was wrong. Anyway
just wanted to pop in and say a friendly g'day.

It's heading into winter here and it is 9:30 PM and the temperature is 64% F. So if you are starting Summer and you consider that hot...You had better come over here and try our summer heat...one word stifling.

Well, 80 degrees is considered hot for this time of year. What we call hot in real summer is 95+ degrees, but if the temperature stays around 80 degrees all summer, we still call it pretty successful. And yes we do have far more water than all of Australia, but it's just what you are used to isn't it? It's dry enough that farmers are beginning to get worried and that dykes are weakening and that is considered bad.
As for Terri's comment, as long as I structurally have more comments than entries on my blog, I'm happy. I seem to have achieved that for the next few months.
No, I haven't returned to MySpace. This acquaintance goes back eleven years.

You are Sandusky, OH
Loser! You are boring, have no sense of adventure, no sense of humor, you have no friends, in fact you're no good to this world. You are definitely Sandusky, OH!
Famous Sandusky, Ohio, residents: probably a few hockey players, but no one worth a second glance
