The funniest thing happened last week. We have this lottery in the Netherlands, which is called the 'Postcode Lottery'. If you play your ZIP or postal code is your lottery ticket, and if you win, everybody with your postal code who plays wins along with you. Now don't worry. Our postal codes are made up of four numbers and two letters, which means that there are usually no more than fifty addresses in yours, while the prizes shared amount to tens of millions.
Of course, if you don't play and your street wins, it may be a bitter experience, to see that your neighbors can suddenly afford an SUV or a swimming pool, which they buy as soon as they return from Australia. Nobody however, has ever complained, even though the lottery does go by the nickname 'blackmail lottery'. Until last week. A Mrs. Hélène de Gier (gier means vulture, by the way), showed up on TV stark raving mad, because her street won, and she was the only person on her entire street not to win. She wants to take this to court to be compensated with a few hundred thousand euros.
You know what... I have absolutely no sympathy for her. I myself don't play in any lotteries, at least no more than once or twice a year, and I have resigned to the fact that I don't stand a chance this way. If my entire street won, I can live with it. I should have bought a ticket, eh? Anyways, she's made a huge fool out of herself, which was hilarious to watch on TV, and I hope she loses her case. Long live the Postcode Lottery.
Well it is nice to know that America is not that only place that has people like that. And I am with you, if she did not play, she shouldn't get anything and if she don't like it, well she knew the rules ahead of time.
SilverWind is funny--that behavior really does sound American! The whole idea of such a lottery sounded really wild and fun too. But now I can see how it could start a neighborhood feud. The blackmail lottery name is hilarious too.
Omg what can I say, I believe lotteries are corrupt no matter what country, state or province. In any event thank you for your comment, It was funny. In all honesty this may sound hypocritical of me but I do hope he is forgiven his sins and goes to Heaven.
Wouldn't it be ironic if in Heaven he is accompanied by Gays, Lesbians Witches, Pagans Abortionists etc that were forgiven their sins as well
P.S. love your cursor Dutch

Yeah, that's a nice thought. I'm sure that if the Lord has any sense of justice, and a sense of humor this is exactly what is awaiting Jerry Falwell.
As for lotteries, as long as there are people looking for a quick fix, good for them if they win something in the lottery. I don't mistrust the lotteries themselves, at least not in this country.
One example of a very corrupt lottery is Zimbabwe. Pres. Mugabe won the lottery there about ten years ago. There must have been some foul play there.
Another lottery I'm not to fond of, is a Spanish lottery that has a big draw just before Christmas where they have very young girls
(8-12) calling the winning numbers for hours on end. That's child labor, pure and simple.
Yes well! What a stupid woman. That's leaving the gate open and when the horse bolts you expect everyone else to chase it for you,
catch it and give it back to you. How can she ask for a share of prize money from all the other winners when she didn't put a penny of her money in... In the first instance? I'm like you I don't bother with lotteries except at odd times of the year I might consent to a little flutter but that is very rare indeed. I don't know where these avarice people come from but it seems no country is immune from greedy odd balls who want a share of someone elses glory without putting in themselves.

You are Sandusky, OH
Loser! You are boring, have no sense of adventure, no sense of humor, you have no friends, in fact you're no good to this world. You are definitely Sandusky, OH!
Famous Sandusky, Ohio, residents: probably a few hockey players, but no one worth a second glance
