With nothing on TV on Sunday night, I suddenly awoke in my chair looking at a documentary on the death penalty in Texas, and hey, I've just written an entry on my humble opinion about illegal immigrants in the US, so why not share my opinion on the death penalty as well. I am of course against it. No Bible can ever convince me of the fact that there are crimes that require such punishments as stoning or other forms of bloodshed. Don't ever think by the way that the Holy Book of Islam is such a violent natured book, the Holy Bible is exactly the same.
Yet, there was an interesting remark by someone high up the hierarchy of the Texas Dept. of Corrections, who is also against the death penalty. He said he had resigned to the fact that Texas executes prisoners, but that the people as well as the politicians are growing complacent because of the sterile nature of executions. You know, lethal injections which are considered humane, simply because no one ever lived to tell what it was like. He suggested that we should go back to public hangings. That should get judges and juries thinking, whether a crime someone committed was really grave enough to put him/her to death in such a cruel manner, without any dignity.
If there is really no way to end this situation, that several American states execute death sentences, I do feel this could indeed be a way to get people thinking, and judges to be at least more generous when it comes to live, or as Dante put it in Purgatory: "From Peter these I hold, of him instructed that I err rather in opening, than in keeping fast". By that meaning that it's better to be too lenient than too strict, when it comes to life and death decisions.
One little detail struck me as funny, by the way. Did you know that if you are put to death by the State of Texas, that in your death certificate, the cause of death is stated as "homocide"? At least in words, they seem to know what they're doing to people.
I am 100% for the death penalty, I am a strong avid beleiver in an Eye for an Eye, which acutally was a Pagan concept before it ended up in the Bibble.
And personaly I think the death penalty should be extended beyound just murder. I think that repeat rapisist ought to be eilligable for the death penalty even if they have not acutally killed any of thier victims.
If someone ever murdered, or otherwise harmed one of my loves ones, they could count themselves lucky if the law got a hold of them before I did.
We must have been watching the same program? I have thought long and hard about this and can find no reason for legalised murder. The State, by doing so, only stoops down to the same level as the person they are putting to death for the same crime...MURDER. It is barbaric and uncivilised. Not to mention how many times throughout history they got it wrong and killed an innocent person. Now I know that there are people out there who will tell me the cost of keeping criminals in jail for life is too costly...yabba, yabba, yabba; but it is a far worse punishment for a convicted person to live their life behind bars with no hope of freedom what so ever. And all this legalised murder doesn't deter anyone who has a mind to go around killing at all. And I fail to see how it can make families of victims feel better because it doesn't matter how dead the perpetrater is, it will not bring the person he has murdered back. Dead is dead and there is no return to the life as we know it on this plain. Hate is a useless emotion which destroys ones soul and makes people bitter twisted shells that were once humanbeings. So revenge is a hollow victory and for my mind there is enough barbarity in the world without the Powers that be getting in on the act with their legalised murder in there sanitised ugly murdering chambers.
So that's my two Bob's worth on the subject. Take care.

I have to say, it would make me feel better, it would not bring my loves one back but why should they get to live when my loved ones did not? I would rather they be killed, and if the state did not do it, then I would be tempted to do it myself. For why should they be shown mercy when the victims were not?
There is one sort of crime where I would be able to understand the death penalty, and for all I care they do hang the perpetrators in public, or burn them at the stake. That's crimes against children. Any serious crime perpetrated by an adult against a child, from abuse to murder, to child slave exploitation, etc.
I have decided to come back and put another 2 bobs worth of oppinion in on this subject. I do not abide by any cruelty against anyone and I don't condone any crimes against children, the elderly or anyone at all, we all have a God given right to live out our lives in peace. Pedifiles, molesters, murderers deserve all the law dishes out.
However if we are going to kill these evil misfits of society, we the society, better be, more than pretty sure we kill the right felon. With modern forensics mistakes are less likely but still mistakes are made, because humanbeings, no matter how well intentioned are not infallible. It's too late after the trap door has opened and the wrong subject has been put to death. However in this land the capital punishment act was abolished many years ago. The last man hanged here was put to death in 1967, and that was a questionable act, very political and to this day there is conjecture about it and the bloke who more than likely committed the said crime is now out of jail and free. You have got me on a subject that is very emotive. Love and (((HUGS))) from Dawnie.
No, I haven't returned to MySpace. This acquaintance goes back eleven years.

You are Sandusky, OH
Loser! You are boring, have no sense of adventure, no sense of humor, you have no friends, in fact you're no good to this world. You are definitely Sandusky, OH!
Famous Sandusky, Ohio, residents: probably a few hockey players, but no one worth a second glance
