(A poem I wrote for my Mother Betty Lackey for Mother's Day)
She's a Mother
By: Dwayne Lackey
She's a teacher and
a preacher.
She brightens a path
on the darkest days.
A light that guides troubled
ships.
A savior for complicated ways.
A doctor and a nurse.
Lover and a friend.
A foundation you can depend on
solid to no end.
She sacrifices all in the name
of love with the spirit of
an eagle and compassion
of a dove.
She's a beckon to her family
shining ever so bright.
A hero to her kids and his
mistress of the night.
She's the queen of the world
held up high like no other.
Grace laced in poetry
a given gift she's a Mother.
