Mother CatI'm still determined not to let my blog join the countless abandoned ones out there. Even if it takes years before a new one shows up.
I'm going to talk a little about maternal instinct. In a cat.
At this post where I stand guard, there's this stray cat. And four weeks later, she had three kittens! They're cute and all, but a little too scared of human. Which is annoying to feed them, but otherwise normal. Oh, yeah. Cats love sponge cakes. Either that or they're really hungry.
It's like this: the mother cat will not touch her food until all her young has eaten. It's not much to think about, but recalling how this particular cat had no regard for whoever fed her before, it's quite a dramatic change of character. Kind of stuff that makes you go "Awwwww...", you know? Awesome.
And the kittens are so darn adorable. Maybe except when they poo all over the place. I don't know. Don't want to know, either. Heh. 1:22 AM - 3/17/2008 - comments {1} - post commentShare and enjoyOuch.I went through all her letters to me. Every letter triggered a heartache.
Maybe I should just burn them. Hmmm. 4:39 AM - 12/31/2007 - comments {0} - post commentShare and enjoyWhat'd you call a "Friend"I just did a sweeping 10 hit combo friendster update. Just. It involves going through every profile of everything you know, find out(through their profile) about their current situation and drop them a comment. Holy shit, I realised I'm so damn behind with everything.
Like how I missed Corin's birthday, just like that. Or when I didn't even remember adding Joyce in friendster. That kind of stuff. Army took a lot from me! Oh, nevermind. Not the point.
Besides, it's not really about friendster, or leaving the comments, that counts. It's more of having a real friend. How often do you actually call or send a message, just updating your friend about something that happened? It's more like that kind of thing. Most people I see would leave a catchy comment or nice image complete with music and flash animation. Wow. That's some respectable effort there. Chances are, most of us can't be bothered anymore.
Then comes the thought: "Why bother? What are friends for?". Is friendship something you should benefit from? Think of conmen who "befriends" people and then cheat them of their stuff. Or to suffer for? Like those movies where the main character takes the blame for something his friend did and goes to prison. Both are extremes, but I hope that one point is clear: We all want something from our friends. It may be a favour, or to offer help so that next time you'd have an excuse to ask for help. It can even be just for company, to help battle lonliness. That kind of thing. Sounds materialistic, doesn't it? Ever had those friends who'd lecture you mercilessly because you didn't do something which is for your own benefit(e.g. going to school)? I wonder what are their intentions are. Probably so that they'd not look bad going out with you. I'm bad.
Have you seen girls who say that they are "best friends"? More often than not, one of them would be prettier than the other. The pretty one would hang out with the not so pretty girl so that when they're seen together, she'd stand out. And why would the other hang out with her more beautiful counterpart? So that she'd get access to places and things she would never get if she were alone. I'm evil.
I'm not one who plans on how to use friends. I'd keep them around so I can use them when I need to. I'm really evil! Muahahaha!! True or not, you figure out.
Readers, I urge you to cherish your friends(if you haven't been) more(if you have been, lol). A little effort goes a really long way. By the way, if you're still wondering, it has nothing to do with 10 hit combo, just sounded cool. Yeah. 6:54 AM - 9/21/2007 - comments {0} - post commentShare and enjoyLeadershipHaven't touched this site in months...
Anyway. I came across some guys from another company in camp, and they were having lunch. I was very put off by their "gangster" behaviour. I don't know. Maybe I wasn't in a good mood that day.
When I look at my own men, I'd think of a thousand and one things to do to them if they ever dare to show an ounce of such unruly behaviour. Then again, would all these be the cause of excessive and harsh punishment? That the men are trying to exploit ever inch of free space they can if it isn't governed?(i.e. bad behaviour during lunch) I'm still learning to achieve the ideal balance. Right now it's more tolerance than whacking. I just wrestle it off at night. *hears crowd gasp*
My guys passed out from their basic military training yesterday. They're now what I'd call fine soliders. 11:03 AM - 9/15/2007 - comments {0} - post commentShare and enjoyORD, loh!I'm back to play World of Warcraft big time. Not that I've got a lot of time, serving NS and all. Which also explains why I'm still level 40 after a month.. Heh.
The men had their ORD parade yesterday. Coincidently, it's on Friday the 13th. Other than a heavy rain before it started, everything else went smoothly. Thanks to our RSM.
And as commanders, we gotta do what we can to bring out the best from the men. But, what if the commander himself behaves like the men? Does being an NSF justifiy poor motivation? Lack of integrity? Doing only the minumum?
What should I do? What can I do?
Damnit, think, Sergeant Eugene, think!
Though, there's this saying: "If you can't beat them, join them!" 5:30 AM - 4/14/2007 - comments {1} - post commentShare and enjoy
