9/22/2019 - Some Ideas about Data Storage for Your Company
We are now in a world of interconnectivity, which used to be known by a term that was current before the advent of modern personal computers: convergence. The concept behind convergence was that sooner or later, all our forms of communication would merge into a seamless flow, where there would be no longer barriers between forms of human contact. In this concept, long before the computerization and digitization of information for business records storage became a new process wholly dependent on electronic communications called data storage which bring with them data storage problems and of course data storage solutions.
The advent of these portable and personal computers have made it possible for anyone to store any amount of information from the original paper formats to digital (and authenticated) copies that are excellent for business records storage.
Every development in document formats and storage have their pitfalls as well as offer solutions to long-standing problems. If your family has a large tree attached to the present generation, it’s possible that you’ll have up to a hundred years of photographs in all sorts of condition, if those haven’t deteriorated due to sunlight exposure. You evidently won’t find that problem after you’ve done the transfer, and if your family is spread out everywhere from Connecticut to Montana, this is a system that will permit everyone in the family to have access to documents that reach back into the genealogical jewels ready to be uncovered over the rough pieces of coal.
You’ll also save space, and if there are extremely valuable documents, you can keep these in a smaller, safe location, and not amidst boxes and boxes of miscellany. You’ll also get rid of that mold smell that is not quite contaminated, but not day-fresh, either.
You’ll be able to combine these documents in easier fashions if some part of your family is up to date with a whole bunch of the new gadgets, some from Apple and some from their competitors, designed to process all of that media from separate sources. Your camera photograph gets uploaded to your MyTube or FaceSpace personal site on the social network that your family uses. This photograph gets forwarded to email accounts, and then they get printed on photographic paper somewhere else in the country. All probably within minutes of your uploading, and in this way, storage becomes duplicated all over the place; you could delete everything but having spread out your material, it’s effectively stored somewhere else (unless the people you have sent it to have labeled you unwanted spam!
At the other end of the digital ladder, there are now off-site and on-site digital storage systems that allow all sorts of individual piles to be merged in one cohesive unit that will be accessible to everyone in the company. You might only be a small business of a few employees, but you might be able to save all sorts of space by having everyone on a small linked system that you can set up on a basic home computer. It’s all about being connected to that information highway with the first step on the stairway to data heaven.
