2/9/2007 - Charity with Squidoo
I saw this inviting site called Squidoo. What you basically do is create a list. On this list, you can list anything you like. You could for example list all the URLs of your ecommerce site.
Take a peek at some of the inviting lists that I have set up: Truck Drivers, Businss Tips, Cichlid, Webmasters Blog, Communication, Tamale Pie, Foods of India, Betting, Benefits of Various Food.
This is a great way to get free backlinks. For instance, you I find it inviting that Squidoo allows you to earn money from your lists. It places ads and other affiliate links on your page. If it makes any earning from your lists, it shares a part of it with you. It is up to you whether you want to actually take the money home or donate it to your favorite charity.
Did you like my lists? Here are some more: Alternative Remedies, Walking as Exercise, Dog Obedience, Supplies Supplies, Environment, Information About Gears, Indian Traveller, MBA Coaching Classes, Alternative Remedies.
My advice to you would be to use Squidoo effectively. It is one thing to just set up a page and forget it forever. It is entirely another to create a precious page where you rank well and actually get visitors.
If you would like to look at some more lists of mine, I do have some more: Grips, Stain Removal, Business Efficiency, Big Business, Newspapers of Many Different Countries, Conduct Code, Brand, HR Management.
I also believe that creating a Squidoo page solely for a link to your site is too much hard work. Instead you should try to get more out of the site. So, get with it and make the most of the occasion. I would also recommend that you read what other people have to say about Squidoo. Wikipedia article on Squidoo.

1/26/2007 - Bloggers Rule the World
Isn't it amazing how blogs have caught everyone's fancy?. Indeed blogs have become so widespread that one can no longer push aside them. Take for example all these friends I have who run their own blogs: Eva Gardner, Gina Turner, Glenn Alvarez, Jane Nicole, Helen, Mickey, Sharon, Dave, Kathy, Charlene, Edwina, Casper. And then of course there are those who are running several services on their blogs. For instance: Contest of Champions, Major Major blog, Thoughts and Articles, GCWA. Clearly the day of the blogs is here.
The reason that TIME magazine chose YOU as the person of the year was because of the power of citizen journalism -- primarily driven by blogs. So, what are you thinking about? Go over to one of the free services like blogger or some other, or get your own word press blog.
What is very exciting about the blogosphere is the way you can actually generate an avalanche of a response to your thoughts. Just be true to yourself and post something that you truly believe in. And quite literally, you are "the man" or "the woman" for that purpose.
Of course, if you are a non-tech person, you will face some initial hesitation in getting this entire process going. Not a problem, blogging technology is notoriously easy to use. In many senses it is an entry level CMS. Something like a content management system for the masses.
If you do not have your own blog, then now is a good time to do so. Look at some of my other friends who run their own blogs: Happy, Grundy, Made, Robins, Horner, Mike, Page, Nestle, Hopkins, Martini, Khurana, and get a good plan for what you could do.

1/9/2007 - The Need for Nutritionally Balanced Food for Elderly
The nutrition and balanced food is the most important factor for the health and wellbeing of the elderly people medical care. As the age advances the senility sets in. The body systems become weak and functional ability reduces. The old person cant eat more as the digestive system will find it difficult to digest. The person will have less hunger, as he cannot be active as he was during his prime age. If this goes on the defense mechanism will weaken. This will lead to innumerous disease problem. Hence the food for the elderly people must be nutritionally balanced in order to keep them healthy.
The nutrition, food, eating habit and the body weight all play important role in the elderly peoples overall health. Many disease conditions have close relation with the elderly peoples eating habits.
Hence we need to very careful when it comes to the food and nutrition of the elderly people. High intake fat foodstuffs leading to obesity, which will pave way for high blood pressure and diabetes is one such food related ailment.
The importance of nutritionally balanced food Food that is not nutritionally balanced is not only a problem for elders but also for people at all age group. Many chronic diseases do affect the person. The main or the only reason for this could be the food that they consume at present or they were consuming hitherto. Diabetes mellitus, heart problems, and osteoporosis are the few examples of the diseases of poor nutrition.
If the elders have the above-mentioned diseases already [older adults] the poor nutrition will worsen it further. The elderly people will find it very difficult to recover from mild diseases if they are eating nutritionally balanced food in sufficient quantity. This is because the defense mechanism of the body depends solely on the intake of protein through the food.
The possible reasons of poor nutrition Medical condition such as nausea is one reason that will make the elderly people to eat less. Nausea is nothing but vomiting sensation. The elderly people who are forced to follow food restriction due to diabetes and kidney or heart diseases are at greater risk of poor nutrition.
Lack of appetite is more common problem for most of the elderly people. Lack of appetite can also be due to the side effect of the medicines they consume. Such people cannot eat more.
There are few medicines that affect the taste bud thus leading to poor in takes of food. Eating alone is the other reason for the poor nutrition among elders.
Some elderly people need to cook themselves after the death of their spouse. They may not have attempted cooking when their wives were alive. Such people cannot prepare tasty food. This can very well lead to poor nutrition.
Missed teeth or bad teeth arrangement is the other reason that will lead to poor nutrition. Some other elderly people will have chronic arthritis. They will be reluctant to move about. There will be less activity and less energy expendoture. These people will eat less [poor nutrition].
Few suggestions to overcome poor nutrition of elderly people We need to make the elderly people to understand the importance of nutritious food and peril of poor nutrition. We can deliver them prepared food either from good restaurant or from our home. The food that is delivered must be tasty. The food must be rich in vegetables and fruits and less of fat and oil. The food should have more variety.
If the person is found to have less appetite due the side effect of the medicine, we must consult the doctor and change the medicine.
If depression is found to the cause of poor nutrition, subjecting them to counseling is the best option. Make them involve in social activity, which will make them happy and active.
If they [elderly people] are alone in the house and preparing their own food, you can think of hiring a cook to prepare food for them. We can ask the elderly people to start their hobbies like gardening, sewing, cooking etc neglected during their prime time as they were busy in their business or job.
As a son or daughter of an elderly people it our duty to understand the need of nutritionally balanced food and should try our level best to provide the same to the elderly people.

3/25/2006 - Two Essential things
Food and air are the two means by which bodies live. In the full-grown man, whose weight will average about one hundred and fifty-four pounds, one hundred and eleven pounds is oxygen drawn from the air we breathe. Only when food has been dissolved in the stomach, absorbed at last into the blood, and by means of circulation brought into contact with the oxygen of the air taken into our lungs, can it begin to really feed and nourish the body; so that the lungs may, after all, be regarded as the true stomach, the other being not much more than the food-receptacle.

9/30/2005 - The Boy
It was the misfortune of this boy, with his daring and his beauty, that there was in his exterior and his manner that which attracted indulgent interest and a sort of compassionate admiration. The Frenchman liked him, believed his story, thought him ill-treated by that hard-visaged English soldier. All English people were so disagreeable, particularly English soldiers; and the Captain once mortally offended the Frenchman by calling Vilainton un grand homme, and denying, with brutal indignation, that the English had poisoned Napoleon! So, instead of teaching the son to love and revere his father, the Frenchman shrugged his shoulders when the boy broke into some unfilial complaint, and at most said, "Mais, cher enfant, ton pere est Anglais,--c'est tout dire."

7/20/2005 - The Laws
The student of nervous physiology takes his stand between the physicist and the psychologist, and if the first of these rightly makes the unbroken causative continuity of all material processes an axiom of his system of investigation, the prudent psychologist, on the other hand, will investigate the laws of conscious life according to the inductive method, and will hence, as much as the physicist, make the existence of fixed laws his initial assumption

6/29/2005 - Adoption
A wealthy aunt, having lost all her children and being very lonely, thought to fill the vacancy in her heart and home by adopting a little child. After several vain attempts to find a suitable child, she sought the home of her niece, Mrs. Worthington. She came with many misgivings. When she made her errand known, her niece said: "Auntie, my children are no longer mine; I have given them to the Lord, and whatever is his will concerning them shall be mine. You will have to obtain my husband's consent." Thus far Aunt A. was delighted with her success, and she eagerly sought the father. She tried to point out to Mrs. Worthington, who was heartbroken at the prospect of losing her child, how abundantly able she (the aunt) was to provide for the child and spoke of the extreme poverty of the Worthington home. The mother knew all this, but she knew too that God's Spirit does not always rule in wealthy homes. Would she do right to let her child slip from under her parental care? Many thoughts of this nature surged through her brain, and many temptations to say no came to her; but instead of giving a decisive answer she sought counsel from the all-wise Counselor. While in prayer she thought of faithful Abraham's trial regarding Isaac, and she felt that God was just as able to carry her through temptation or test, if she submitted all to his will.
Mr. Worthington gave his consent for one of the children to go for a visit. The aunt having chosen Bessie, hasty preparations were made for their departure. As the mother kissed her curly-haired little girl good-by, her heart seemed bursting with sorrow. She tried to control her feelings, but only God knew the wound that her aunt's parting words made. "Use your influence in my behalf, Niece, with your husband, in case we want to keep Bessie," she had said, and then the great train moved slowly from the station. Abraham was all the mother could think of on her return home. Oh! would God give her back her child?

6/3/2005 - Heredity
It is a fact to challenge attention that the child is the product of the
entire past. His essential nature is comparatively fixed at birth and is
beyond the power or caprice of parent or environment to change in any
fundamental particular during the short period of a lifetime. This
assertion must not be wrongly interpreted; the possibilities of training
and education are great, but they can do little to overcome all of the
defects placed upon the child by heredity.
