Isaiah 45:2,3 'I will go before you and level the mountains ; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron. And I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, Who calls you by your name. Amplified Bible
Treasures of darkness... hidden riches of secret places... it all sounds so mysterious... yet it is compelling.
God was speaking prophetically through Isaiah to Cyrus, a Persian conqueror, who would, 210 years later, conquer the city of Babylon. God wanted Cyrus to know that it was not his militaristic know-how or his intellect that gave him victory over Babylon, but God's grace and mercy and providence that made this event happen.
How do I apply this scripture to my life now? I'm glad you asked...
Let's start with the mountains... there have been many 'mountains' in my life that have been so overwhelming and damaging, that I know when they were removed or leveled, there was no possible way I could take credit for the removal. Only God working in my life made it happen.
Doors of bronze... I thank God for the doors He refused to open for me... asked His forgiveness for those doors I forced open anyway... and thanked Him for the opening of those doors He wanted me to walk through. Only God working in my life made it happen.
Bars of iron... mental prisons have been a problem with me... restrictions I've put upon myself... behaviors I had been a slave to... the bars of the prisons have melted away, cut down and destroyed. Only God working in my life made it happen.
God has given me the treasures of darkness and the hidden riches of secret places... those secret places reside within me... those treasures were within the darkness of my life... those hard times of homelessness, addiction, power trips, drug dealing, hurting others, and hurting myself... have been transformed into treasures of witnessing and testifying to the glory of God. The hidden riches are within my spirit now, the same spirit that is within me is also within God. Just like Dorothy in the land of Oz... the answer lies within us all... when will we acknowledge the Creator who put it there? When do we submit to His will and not our own? When do we make the choice to follow His plan for our life... our purpose for the kingdom?
Let us journey on... in a little more knowledge...
If you'd like to have a relationship with your Creator but don't know what steps to take email me... p.h.
