With all of the trash talk that came from Wanderlei he had a lot to back up. In my opinion, if you can’t walk the walk then don’t talk the talk. In other words shut up and fight.
Wanderlei Silva had a little pre-fight aggression that he wanted to release during the weigh-in. Well maybe he should have saved his energy for the fight because Rampage KTFO’d him with extreme prejudice.
The funny thing about this fight is that Rampage had the deer in the headlights look on his face. He had the same nervous expression when he faced Chuck Liddell. However, by the end of the round he was having his hand raised.
First we lost a great fighter in the form of Even Tanner. Then Justin Levens dies from what appears to be a murder suicide.
Now the mma world has lost anther warrior in the form of Justin Eilers. According to the fight network, Fox 12 in Idaho was first to report that a Nampa resident was shot and killed at about 10:44 p.m. on Christmas night at the 4600 Block of South Happy Valley Road.
Monte Cox later confirmed via MMA Weekly that the body was indeed Justin Eilers.
Sherdog would go on to report that the shooting took place early Friday morning and not on Christmas night, contrary to the original story on Fox 12.
The police department has taken 48-year-old James Robert Malec into custody; he’s been charged with second degree murder.

Matt Hughes linked to white supremacists?
Posted in
Unspecified
Well it seems that Matt Hughes has stepped in it again. First, he put his foot in his mouth when he spoke on Randy Couture’s marital situation and started a rumor about Kim Couture being a prostitute.
Now it seems that “Hillbilly” Matt Hughes has posed with the product of a white supremacist organization. It seems that the company is called, “White Boy Society.” I’m assuming that their products are marketed to, “White Boy Society.”
This really does not surprise me. Ever since he had that disagreement with Rashad Evans on “The Ultimate Fighter” television series, I felt that he may have a little racial bias in his opinion of colored people. I’m not saying that he’s a hard core racist, but he did overreact to Rashad Evan’s “showboating” on the show. In my opinion that indicates that something else besides Rashad’s behavior was at work.
Well the company, “White Boy Society” has issued a statement saying:
Matt Hughes is not a member or supporter or associated with the White Boy Society in any way. The photograph was taken at a public autograph signing at Dales Harley-Davidson in Mt. Vernon, IL. Matt Hughes was asked to hold up the shirt for a picture for our website which he did then was rushed off to sign more autographs. The sole purpose of the photo being posted on localwhiteboy.com was as fans of MMA, we were showing off the autograph on the t-shirt. The photo was not meant to mislead people into believing that Matt Hughes supported the White Boy Society or was endorsing our products. All speculation to Mr. Hughes having any association with White Boy Society is absolutely false.
On October 4th Kimbo Slice met Seth "Silverback" Petruzelli to fight on the Elite XC "Heat" card. Initially, Kimbo had prepared to fight Ken Shamrock, however Ken suffered a cut that caused a medical suspension for the aging warrior.
A lot of people look at this fight as evidence that Kimbo is a bum who does not deserve to fight in the MMA world. I disagree with that sentiment. The reason being is that Kimbo is a fighter with a 3 - 1 fight record. He has not had the number of fights that his opponents have had. Seth on the other hand is a veteran in the game. He has had many fights and has been practicing martial arts since he was 7 years old. In other words Seth had a huge advantage and by no means should have been considered an underdog. Seth is a man who dropped Bob Sapp seconds into the first round of their fight. This is a man who has fought for the UFC and has grown a lot as a fighter, whereas Kimbo is a beginner in the fight game.
If Kimbo´s trainers are smart they can look at this as an opportunity to get back to training without all of the bullshit. No more pressure of the headliner, he can focus on developing as a fighter. As long as he is dedicated to training properly he will return to fighting better than ever.

The deal with Rashad Evans´s shirt last UFC
Posted in

Rashad Evans may not be a fan favorite but he is definitely reaching the masses. Rashad Evans has recently beaten Chuck Liddell, but another interesting thing about this guy is that he walked out to the ring wearing a Bill Gates T-shirt. Well it seemed to be an indicator of things to come.
Rashad Evans wearing the shirt
A close up of the T-shirt
Rashad Evans may have been trying to drop a hint. The deal is that he has a small part in a Microsoft commercial.

BS Ruling for the Anthony Johnson Fight
Posted in
Unspecified
On July 19th, Anthony Johnson fought Kevin "The Fire" Burns. During the highly competitive match Kevin repeatedly poked Anthony in the eye. Not once but multiple times. The referee, Steve Mazagati should be ashamed of the way he allowed Kevin to poke Anthony in the eye. This was so flagrant that the crowd booed Kevin out of the octagon.
Well, the fight that was ended by an eye poke went on to be ruled a TKO. As of yesterday, according to "MMA Frenzy," the ruling will be upheld by the NSAC.
It seems that Evan Tanner died of heat exhaustion. Tanner, who was a very nomadic person, decided that he would go into the wilderness in order to center himself. As a result, he found himself 15 miles from the city of Palo Verde, without water and in 110 degree heat.
What makes this story so tragic is that this guy was truly an enigma. He trained in gyms all over the country but the truth of the matter is that he was self taught. His ground game and BJJ were not the result of learning from a BJJ black belt but the result of instructional DVDs.
MMA and Muay Thia competitor Kit Cope was amazed at this guy´s ability to learn from a book or DVD. According to Kit:
I finally asked him where he learned his muay Thai, and then he tells me this story -- and I don´t know if everybody knows this or if I was the only person who didn´t know this -- but he lived in a cabin up in the boonies. And I mean he was in the boonies where he ran everything off of a generator. He self-taught himself how to fight in his one-room cabin with a VCR and some tapes and some books. Seriously! And that guy literally made it all the way into the UFC and won the title!
He was completely self-taught until he got into the UFC (and) started training with Team Quest. I knew that´s why everything looked different because he, well, made everything up. His entire fighting style he made up taking scraps from books and VHS tapes. The end result was that (his style) was the most awkward thing. Like when he would throw his jab, it would have four different kinks, but it would end up in the right spot. Even funnier, the first few times we did light sparring, I got hit with everything. Literally everything because I had never seen it thrown like that before.
However, Evans bouts with alcohol may have had an impact on his ability to perform at a high level consistently. As a result he lost his last few UFC fights.
Our prayers go out his family, friends. R.I.P. You will not be forgotten.
This has got to be one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. At UFC 88 Rashad Evans knocks chuck Liddell the fuck out. I would not have believed it if I hadn´t seen it with my own eyes. In the first round the fighters circled each other as Chuck attempted to be the aggressor. He pushed the pace but could not quite close the show.
In the second round Chuck pressed the action again. However, when he had Rashad cornered threw a combination that incorporated an uppercut. Rashad countered with an overhand that caught Chuck clean. Chuck sunk to the mat and lay there face down. There was no denying that Rashad had won in dominating fashion.
The funny thing was that the crowd went silent. Usually when there is a knockout in the UFC, the fans go wild. This time they were silent. Could it be because, Rashad is not supposed to be this good. Maybe it´s because he was accused of being an arrogant showboat. Maybe it´s because this victory for Rashad may be a sign of things to come from African Americans. Just as they have dominated football, basketball and boxing they may start dominating MMA.
Don´t call me racist because of my opinion. I´m not the only guy who has contemplated this scenario.
Dana White on the other hand must be ecstatic because he has a new superstar on his hands. Not only is Rashad getting a title shot, but I think that a fight with Forest Griffin would make him look really good. He will beat Forrest. Why? It´s simple, Rashad Evans is a very good athlete whereas Forrest isn´t an exceptional athlete. He works hard and has great trainers but Rashad is a hard worker with Great talent.

Randy is Back in the UFC, Big Trouble for Elite XC
Posted in
Unspecified
It´s official! As of yesterday Randy Couture signed a contract with UFC. On Saturday, November 15th Randy will face Brock Lesnar.
Randy may not get his fight with Fedor but, it is probable that the fight with Lesnar could be the biggest MMA fight in history. With all of the hype surrounding Lesnar, he alone could sell this fight. However, add Randy Couture to the mix and you have a barnburner.
Brock Lesnar is coming off of a victory over Pride Veteran, Heath Herring. He gave Heath a beating that he will not soon forget. His physical dominance and athleticism is almost scary. I really would not be surprised if Brock really hurt someone bad because his strength is almost superhuman. Some of you may be thinking, "Get of the Lesnar band wagon." However, as the beatings take place his band wagon will grow.
Randy is one of the greatest fighters of all time but, this is one fight where I am really afraid for Randy. Randy is no joke, but Brock is not like any other person in the fight game today.
All jokes aside, this is a really dangerous fight. Randy needs to be careful.
Elite XC on the other hand really needs to put on a good show the next time that Kimbo is on the card. Kimbo needs to step up and take Ken Shamrock out in violent and efficient manner. If not Kimbo´s mystique will be a thing of the past and Elite XC will be as well.
Now that Rogers has made his case for taking out the internet legend, Kimbo has desired to fire back with a statement of his own. Take into consideration that Brett Rogers was once a tire repairman for a Sam´s Club in Minneapolis I think that the response is pretty funny.
With the caption of, "Rogers don't quit your day job."
Ha, I can´t wait until this dispute is settled in the ring.
BTW, This was issued by the Kimbo Camp to "fiveouncesofpain.com."

Couture May Have To Settle for Lesnar and Not Fedor
Posted in

According to Michael Rome of the BloodyElbow.com Randy Couture is in negotiations with the UFC. His first fight back with the company could take place at UFC 91 on November 15th in Portland, Oregon. Nothing has been set in stone but this would be one of the most anticipated fights in MMA history. With Brock Lesnar being such a huge name and Randy being considered a living legend, ratings could go through the roof.
Randy Couture
Brock Lesnar
If this is true, Elite XC could be facing a real test. Kimbo Slice, who was once the company´s premier fighter, could be a thing of the past. Brock Lesnar who is just as marketable as Kimbo could take the MMA world buy storm if he gets this fight. I personally believe that Brock will win this fight. As a result his stock should soar, while destroying the appeal of Kimbo as a legitimate championship fighter.
I have a lot of respect for Kimbo or anyone else with the balls to step into the ring or cage; however his performance against James Thomson exposed him as a fighter who needs a lot of improvement. Let´s see if he can improve and improve fast, because his next appearance on CBS will require that the show be carried on his broad shoulders. He needs to carry the show better than Brock does for the UFC or it may be the end of Elite XC.

Quinton Jackson Makes Big Changes in his Camp
Posted in
Unspecified
As
a man who has made it big in the world of "MMA," one may have a lot of
users who just want to be connected in some way to you. As the champ
you´ve got to know that your team is in your corner. No matter whether
you win or loose, the trainers, the friends, the managers have to be
around during the ups as well as the downs.
Quinton Jackson is a man who has obviously experienced the downs of the
fight game. With his recent loss to Forest Griffin he may have set
himself up for a depression of some sort.
As a result he has left his trainer, Juanito Ibarra. He believes that
there are greener pastures with "Team Wolflair." This team is the home
of Micheal Bisping. According to "Fighter´s Only" magazine Rampage was
quoted as saying:
"Those
guys got it together. Michael Bisping took to me like a brother from
the first time I met him. He and [Paul] Anthony were very hospitable
towards me when I first came to the UK. I feel like Wolfslair can make
me go farther than I have been; I´m really excited about being able to
travel there to train. The guys on the team, they like to laugh and
joke around but they train hard and that´s me, that´s what I like to
do. What better team to join than one called Wolfslair? I´m a werewolf.
It was my destiny. People don´t understand destiny but I do. Wolfslair
is the most perfect team for me."
This
is good news for Rampage, who has recently pleaded not guilty to 2
felonies and 3 misdemeanor counts. Hopefully, QJ will be able to get
his head on straight with good people around him.
Elite XC has finally found an opponent for it´s marquee fighter, Kimbo Slice. However, Brett Rogers isn´t happy with the match up. He wants a piece of the fighter known as Kimbo. Why, Brett Rogers feels that Kimbo isn´t as good as he is. As of May 31, 2008 the Kimbo mystique has all but faded. With a lackluster performance against James Thompson on CBS, Kimbo lost the respect of at least one of his MMA peers.
Brett Rogers was disgusted after Kimbo barley won a controversial decision over a fighter that Brett dispatched in less than 2 minutes. At the press conference following the May 31 fight, Brett called Kimbo´s performance "garbage."
Afterwords, Kimbo and his entourage took offence at this statement, but Brett has not kept silent. He´s been very vocal about his willingness to fight Kimbo.
According to Sherdog.com, Ken Shamrock has entered into the war of words. He intends to fight Kimbo on the next Elite XC card in October. The 44 year old UFC Hall of famer believes that this is a do or die fight for him. He is coming off of a loss to Robert "Buzz" Berry at Cage Rage. He believes that his loss was due to illness. Ken Shamrock stated that after the fight he was hospitalized for 4 days.
Ken Shamrock
Ken Shamrocks critiques of Kimbo are some what puzzling. For example he believes that Kimbo does not punch properly. Shamrock states,
"Honestly, I think I can test him anywhere," he said. "He´s got big, heavy hands. Everyone says he punches hard and he probably does. But again, he doesn´t punch properly, in my opinion. He swings his hands, he moves his body back and forth trying to get as much power as he can, but there´s really no snap behind it. You can usually see the punches coming. I´m going to do what I need to do. If it goes to the ground, I´ll probably break his leg. I mean, no question. I will break his leg. If he gives it to me, I´m going to break it."
In my estimation, I believe it will be Kimbo who will see punches coming, not Ken Shamrock.
Brett Rogers on the other hand believes that both of these fighters are jokes and that he could take on either one. Hopefully, he will get his chance.

Brett Rogers says, "There is nothing business about it anymore."
Posted in
Unspecified
Brett Rogers has called out Kimbo Slice in order to let him know that he means business. In the eyes of Brett, the new opponent of Kimbo Slice is a joke. It´s time for Kimbo to step up to this challenge. This is a quote from Brett Rogers:
Caught between a Shamrock and a hard place, Kevin has chosen the old over the new; the past over the future. But Fergi... the hard place is coming. By putting us off, making us wait will only make matters worse. There is nothing business about it anymore. Kimbo made it a point to go frontin' to our boys at Big Black. But that street thug B.S. might work well with the fan bois and the Internet dorks who think your street cred means something; but Son...Brett comes from Cabrini Green; the worst 12 blocks of America. Compared to that your street is Sesame Street. So you can say it is very personal between Brett and Fergi. So go ahead and make us wait while you fight Tank and Shamrock. Hell, why not fight Hackney, Harold Howard, Fred Ettish and the rest of Jurassic MMA? And while your shuckin' and duckin' we will be hustlin' and muscilin' and when the bell finally tolls the only real question left is...do you wake up looking at canvas or arena lights?
It seems that the infamous UFC fighter known as Rampage is catching a break. His legal troubles aren´t as bad as they may have appeared to be.
The Orange County District Attorney´s has formally charged Rampage with 2 felonies and 4 misdemeanor counts stemming from the July 15th car chase.
The charges are as follows: one felony count of evading while driving recklessly, one felony count of evading a peace officer and driving against traffic, three misdemeanor counts of hit and run with property damage, and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving. However, he isn´t facing a charge for the miscarriage of Holly Griggs. According to Orange County District Attorney spokesperson, "We reviewed all the medical records and spoke with the victim´s physician and the evidence showed that the loss of the fetus was not related to the crash."
Hopefully, QJ can past the drama and get his career back on track.

Jackson Legal Complications Postpone Arraignment
Posted in
Unspecified
The legal situation for Quinton Jackson just became more confusing. His incident involves multiple police departments due to the jurisdictions in which the chase took place. They are California Highway Patrol, the Costa Mesa Police and Newport Beach Police. According to Sherdog.com there was also an incident involving erratic behavior following the car chase.
"Jackson was released on 25
thousand dollars bail on July 15, but was detained by police the next day
following reports of erratic behavior by his friends and acquaintances, who had
congregated at the fighter´s home in Irvine.
Jackson was
placed under a 72-hour mental observation at a local hospital and was later released."
Hopefully, this will be sorted out and he can get on with his life.
Well it´s been a while since July 15th when the former UFC Light Heavy Weight champ was involved in a car chase. Quinton Jackson led Costa Mesa police officers on a wild chase that left crashed cars and shredded tires on the 55 freeway. He would later exit onto Newport Boulevard where he would hit 3 more cars. "Rampage" Jackson would then proceed to hit 2 cars on 19th street and then fled the scene at approximately 1:19pm, according to Lt. Paul Dondero.
Jackson was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, hit and run as well as reckless driving. However, Jackson may be facing more severe charges. As a result of Jackson actions a woman by the name of Holli Griggs may have miscarried. On July 15th Griggs was driving her Cadillac Escalade when she was sideswiped by Jackson´s truck as he was evading arrest.
This may seem to be one of those situations where a celebrity athlete is once again being irresponsible and violent. We have seen this over and over again in the cases of Mike Vick, etc, etc. However Jackson, who claims to be a born again Christian, who does not drink, use drugs or act in a manner that is reprehensible to God may be cut from a different cloth from other criminal minded athletes.
Check out how lucid Rampage seems in an interview the day before the car chase.
Celeb TV footage of the arrest
Footage supplied by OfficialTracyHorton
According to UFC President, Dana White, "Rampage´s" actions were the result of severe delirium and exhaustion. "Rampage lost the fight to Forrest Griffin. He hung out in Vegas for a week. He was hanging out by the pool and he was fasting. He wasn´t drinking; he wasn´t eating. He was drinking energy drinks," explained White.
"You saw what happened on TV, the problems that he had," he continued. "They took him in for psychiatric evaluation for over 72 hours. What they came back with was that there was nothing wrong with him mentally; it was physically."
Dana White proceeded to post Quinton´s $25,000.00 bond and get him back into training. No charges have been filed yet but serious legal issues are on the horizon for the UFC star.
Dana White seems to be under the impression that Quinton is doing well
As a fan of MMA I´ve been following Quinton´s since the beginning. I´ve seen the early fights against the likes of Marvin Eastman, Rob Smith and Sean Gray. I´ve been entertained by his later fights against the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Kevin Randleman and Chuck Liddell. This guy is really entertaining. Not only is he entertaining but he´s talented and personable. He is a fighter who has not been coddled. He´s been thrown to the wolves over the majority of his career and despite the odds has landed at or near the trop of the sport. He deserves every good thing that a mixed martial arts organization has to offer a fighter.
That being said, I have questions concerning the Dana White explanation of what happened. I was listening to Gary Alexander´s "Ultimate Podcast." Gary stated that he had visited with Quinton Jackson the day before the alleged incident and that Quinton ate a meal at a restaurant. If this is true then Dana White explanation is at least partially wrong.
The question on my mind is what happens now. Will Quinton repeat this behavior in the future? Only time will tell.

Nick "The Goat" Thomson vs. Jake Shields
Posted in
Unspecified
This fight really shows that Jake Shields is one of the best welterweights on the planet. His BJJ is so slick, it´s sick. Nick Thomson really underestimated his opponent. And I bet that his nemesis, Maoshan is laughing his ass off. Nick is a legit fighter but the jiu-jitsu fighters who train under Cesar Gracie are on anther level. Shields is a guy who has taken out people like Charuto Verissimo and Carlos Condit.
I don´t believe that Nick has ever fought anyone of that caliber outside of Karo Perisyan.
I must say Jake made mounting the goat look easy and he deserves the belt that he wears around his waste.
