8/28/2008 - Fight Triangle: Kimbo, Shamrock, Rogers

Elite XC has finally found an opponent for it´s marquee fighter, Kimbo Slice. However, Brett Rogers isn´t happy with the match up. He wants a piece of the fighter known as Kimbo. Why, Brett Rogers feels that Kimbo isn´t as good as he is. As of May 31, 2008 the Kimbo mystique has all but faded. With a lackluster performance against James Thompson on CBS, Kimbo lost the respect of at least one of his MMA peers.

Brett Rogers was disgusted after Kimbo barley won a controversial decision over a fighter that Brett dispatched in less than 2 minutes. At the press conference following the May 31 fight, Brett called Kimbo´s performance "garbage."

Afterwords, Kimbo and his entourage took offence at this statement, but Brett has not kept silent. He´s been very vocal about his willingness to fight Kimbo.

According to Sherdog.com, Ken Shamrock has entered into the war of words. He intends to fight Kimbo on the next Elite XC card in October. The 44 year old UFC Hall of famer believes that this is a do or die fight for him. He is coming off of a loss to Robert "Buzz" Berry at Cage Rage. He believes that his loss was due to illness. Ken Shamrock stated that after the fight he was hospitalized for 4 days.

    Ken Shamrock

Ken Shamrocks critiques of Kimbo are some what puzzling. For example he believes that Kimbo does not punch properly. Shamrock states,

"Honestly, I think I can test him anywhere," he said. "He´s got big, heavy hands. Everyone says he punches hard and he probably does. But again, he doesn´t punch properly, in my opinion. He swings his hands, he moves his body back and forth trying to get as much power as he can, but there´s really no snap behind it. You can usually see the punches coming. I´m going to do what I need to do. If it goes to the ground, I´ll probably break his leg. I mean, no question. I will break his leg. If he gives it to me, I´m going to break it."

In my estimation, I believe it will be Kimbo who will see punches coming, not Ken Shamrock.

Brett Rogers on the other hand believes that both of these fighters are jokes and that he could take on either one. Hopefully, he will get his chance.
