11/25/2022 - The Need for Anti Bullying Programs in Schools
Posted in Unspecified

A bully is a person who continually threatens other people verbally by saying rude things or even physically hurting them. And every time the bully sees their target, they try to show them whose boss.

Bullying is unethical and has a big impact those students who are bullied as well as the bullies themselves. Bullied people can acquire psychological and social effects like losing their self-esteem so that they no longer want to make friends for fear they may not be good enough for them. Students even stop going to school or lose interest because of bullying.

For our children and young people, bullying is a serious issue. This behavior should not be treated as if it is a normal thing to do and schools should be able to convey the message to their students that bullying is unacceptable and that the bullied should stand up to bullies. This is the reason why there is a great need for Anti Bullying Programs.

In order for every schools, parents and students to reach the goal of finally eradicating bully behavior, Anti Bullying Programs should be in every school.

An anti bullying program can be a major tool used to educate parents and students about the effects of bullying. It gets the school started on setting up or reviewing their policy on bullying and being very clear on what the consequences of bullying are.

An anti bullying program can help students with knowing how to step in and help one another, if they see bullying happening or simply know how to get help. With a good program, skills that would help students make friends, be confident, be assertive, and be more tolerant to one another would be learned.

To bullies, they should also realize that their action can get them in trouble and they could face major consequences if they continue that behaviour. Schools must implement a clear plan on how to deal with bullying in their premises, stop bullies from bullying and change their behavior as well as help the bullied and support them in the trials they are facing with bullies.

Parents are also encouraged to extend their support to this campaign. Educating parents about what to do if their child is being bullied, who they can get help from at the school. If the bully is their child, do they know what to do?

Parents need these programs because nobody wants to see their children grow up as bullies in the community and nobody wants to see their child undergo depression and no longer be interested in going to school just because they are being bullied in school.

So many Anti Bullying Programs are out there but those program that teach students life skills that will help them with communicating and being more tolerant of one another, promote good strong policy development for bully behavior and one that encourage both teacher, parent and student involvement is considered the best and the most successful among these programs. A program is successful if it is able to give an ongoing message to students that bullying is an unacceptable act and that is a fact forever not just for a year.

As every school has a duty of care to all students who are attending their school, if they are not working toward a NO BULLY school or educating students and parents in this area then they may have a lot to answer for in the future. In order to help stop bullying it is vital that we have anti bullying programs running in our schools.
