My baby boy has started second grade and I am unsure how I feel about this. For one, he is now really into sciences which means I suddenly became stupid. I know shit about anything past a few medical related things. He wants to major in Biology for the love of God!!! I mean what 8 year old even knows what biology is, much less want to do it for the rest of their life? Most eight year olds want to be superman...I mean fuck most 30 year olds want to be superman. Not my brilliant lil boy... he wants to teach biology. So now we are having to look up every science related thing known to man on the computer so he can ask me questions about it and I can say " I dunno!" I mean I thought the point of looking it up was to make us understand...not me I get to stand there looking more stupid then I did to begin with. Then when he figures it out before I do he gets to give me the look (Ya know what look I am talking about. You all gave it to your parents once and now your kids give it to you. The "Gosh mom when did ya get so dumb" look.) I have resorted to giving the look to myself in the mirror because I know he is gonna give it to me. Well now we are on the second week of school and I am so stupid I am not even worth wasting the time to give the look to. Now he just walks by going "Never mind mom...I'll Just ask the teacher tomorrow." Well, not to be outdone by some teacher, I say "Let me see it." Yup, I still sit there with the biggest "duh" look on my face until he finally says "It's ok mom. A lot of people just don't understand things." "Things"?!?! Now because I don't understand the internal organs of a turtle I don't understand THINGS?! Two years of college and I have less knowledge than an eight year old. And here is what I want to know...when do you go from being God to them to being the stupidest person they know?
