The trip home was the worst part. First, we left early but about three
hours into it, the car starts to mess up so we had to turn around and
head back to his friend's house. We get there and they believe it to be
the thermastat. Mike takes it out and then we sleep a couple hours. We
go to a cook-out and then at around 6 at night we leave. I drove first,
just because he drove the whole way there. We spent the whole trip
singing every song on the radio at the top of our lungs trying to keep
our asses from falling asleep. Eventually he did fall asleep and I
struggled alone trying to not wreck and kill us. I think the best time
to drive is at night but the key to it is to try to get as much sleep
as possible the day before in order to keep yourself awake for the
drive. I tried that but by 6 a.m. I was way too tired and had to stop.
That is when he took over the whole driving thing. Once we crossed over
into TN again, he had to drive the rest of the way back. Of course,
that was only about three hours from the house but those were the best
three hours of the whole trip. I layed on my side dozing off and on. It
was wonderful. The one thing I did learn is that I still know all
those old 80's songs (yes Madonna comes in handy when driving alone at
3 in the morning). I can't sing but I know the words enough to
"pretend" like I know how to. I now know why my guys never let me on
any of their songs....I shouldn't be singing. Not in the shower, not
alone in the car and surely not on a mike for anyone else to hear. So
to all my guys who were saving me from myself...THANK YOU. Ya know I
love you for it.
