It is my first full day of life here in the
UK! The sun is shining and things are looking good. The
flight over wasn't too bad, I mean it was long, but there's not much to
be done about that. Our flight arrived at about 9 am and we were
off around 9:30 and then through immigration and a train into the city
and a cab ride up to Willesden where I'm living and I finally settled
in about 1. I took a shower, went to the grocery store and fell
asleep exhausted for a couple of hours.
I'm staying in a sort of rooming house for the next week until I can
move into my apartment. At first I was kind of disappointed I
couldn't move right in, but this is a pretty good situation. I've
already met some pretty cool people, a couple of girls: Lauren from
Florida and Michelle from Australia. I am staying in a room with
5 other girls. Michelle, a South African, two Serbian girls and
another that I haven't met yet because she's gone for the weekend.
I took a walk around the Willesden neighborhood yesterday after my
nap. It was just too beautiful to be inside! The tube stop
is just about 7 minutes walk away and the neighborhood is decent.
Not super posh, but definitely manageable. It's pretty ethnic, a
lot of Middle Eastern and Africans. Everything I need is really
pretty close by, and when I move into my apartment (flat) it's even
closer to the tube station and shops, which will be nice.
Since today is so beautiful, I think I'm going to go with a couple
people to one of the ciry parks. The Jubilee line isn't running,
it's a bus service, so it might turn out to be a bit of an adventure!
I have free internet at the hostel, so I'm going to take advantage of it while I can and write more later!

Hi from home
Hi Kari, Just got home from the lake. Had a great time and the weather was beautiful. We all got a bit too much sun tho. Dad and Anna went tubing this afternoon and Paula and Sydney came over for lunch and the afternoon. Even Sydney took a ride on the tube with Anna and her Mm. She even fell of into the lake, but it didn"t seen to phase her much. So glad to hear all is well and you are getting acquainted. Always good to know there are people who are friendly. Enjoy your time there. Looking forward to hearing from you and know that you are in our prayers always. We love you much. Mom, Dad and Sis

London Fun!
Hi Kari! It sounds like you are having fun getting used to London again. I try to imagine it when you describe it, but I'm sure it's totally different being there. Sometimes getting lost is fun in a foreign country! (As long as you eventually find your way back home) I'm glad you are enjoying it. Good luck finding a job! I'll have to call you on that new phone of yours! Love and miss you ~G

Hi Kari!
I'm excited for you traveling and working abroad. Good luck with it all! Just from my experience, you have to remember to be patient and flexible, because good things come about, but not always exactly when and what you hoped. Thinking about you from the southern hemisphere! Cheers! I like this journal thing of yours. Can you post pictures? I'm going to try to text you too!

Got an email from UPH that Bruce Garrison had contacted you by email. I met Bruce last year in Indy. You would enjoy a visit with his family. Hope you get a chance to travel that direction . Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures. Love, Mom

remember mpcw?
Hi Kari!
Remember MPCW? That's right, greetings from the registration table at MPCW! I am just waiting for guests to check in. All is well here in Admissions - we certainly miss you. Aimee started last week and is adjusting well. She has a ways to go to get to where you were :) I will continue to check your site. Sounds like you are doing great. I give you a lot of credit for taking on such a challenge - many rewards to come! Take care of yourself - take time to rest and enjoy. When you do find that job, don't work too hard.
Miss you, Angie :)

Hey Pinkie
We sure missed you at the lake last week. UPH and I were there from 7/3-10, then slept in your bed in CF on Sunday evening. Caleb rode back with us to Indy and will be with us for 2 wks. Enjoyed tubing, boating, floating, etc. and truly thought of you lots and lots. Randy spent 2 nites at the cabin with us, he's doing pretty well, although not well enough to be home alone yet. Glad he has a "protected" environment for the time being. Sure happy to hear you weathered the bombings, kept you in our prayers for sure. The big concert sounds like it was awesome. Hope you're thoroughly enjoying all of your new friends from around the world. Much love to you from UPH, AL and Caleb.
