Yeppies adopts a new way of life

I have ripped this one from the headlines...Actually from a blurb in the Metro, for those you unfamiliar with London and it's fine newspapers, the Metro is the bottom of the rung on the news and information ladder.  Basically it is the free paper you can pick up at the tube station.

In any case, every so often a jewel emerges from the muck.  This I thought was actually rather interesting consiering my current lifestyle choices as well as those of many of my friends who have only recently graduated college and now emerge into the real world.

'Yeppies' adopt a new way of life
You have probably heard of yuppies, indkys and even sinbads.  Now meet the yeppies.  Anthropologists are calling the dithering twent-something generation yeppies - Young Experimenting Perfection Seekers.  Yeppies are amibitious but confused and won't commit to anything until they know it will bring them enduring happiness.  The Social Issues Research Centre said today's graduates are adopting a 'browsing' approach to jobs, homes and relationships.  They postpone life-althering decisions until they feel they have exhausted all their options.  Social anthropologist Kate Fox said: 'Unlike the yuppies of th Eighties, who were motivated by money and status, today's young adults are less certain and less single-mindedly materialistic than their predacessors.'

Pretty interesting, I think...

yeppies....

as a 20 year old English/ Music student who's taking a year off and reconcidering the merits of college despite intentions to return I think I may very well fit right into that yeppie group. I think that part of this is because society has been so driven for money and materials that it has breed a generation or two of simply unhappy people. The true yeppie is simply looking to find that long lost virtue, Joy and acceptance of ones self. I say, what's the big rush, I'm only 20 and while I want to get out and be on my own and support myself, I'm in no hurry to be buying a house and living the high life. Good thing I'll be content in my little apartment working two part times and taking the bus... ;- )

How's our girl?

Sure do enjoy reading your journal, Pinkie. If you have not already heard from May and George, you will be getting a call from they as they are in England and Spain for next 2 wks. George's eldest son is getting married in Spain this coming weekend.
I'm heading to MN on Friday for two weeks. UPH cannot go, as has his big travel show this week and weekend. It's a busy time for him. It's an interesting time in his life right now with so much uncertainty. He's exploring all sorts of options and in the midst of it is trusting the Lord will continue to guide and direct him...to open and close doors of opportunity as he moves forward. It's also kind of exciting and challenging to keep the right focus and not get wigged out.
Just wanted to put a smile on your face with some mail from your other home...
Much love to you now and always. Enjoy this incredible opportunity you have...what a great chapter to add to your life. I'm so glad you're journaling it all, you will enjoy reading it many times in the future I'm sure.
Hugs and kisses to our beautiful niece...Talk to you again soon.
