7/16/2014 - Information about the different types of hair transplant methods
    Posted in Unspecified

One of the primary concerns that people based all across the world, particularly men, face is that of hair loss. There are various factors that trigger this issue. These factors include hormonal changes, family history, trauma and aging. If hair loss starts early, you can expect it to be rather extreme. Reconstructive treatment for baldness is now possible through hair transplant or hair replacement surgery.

This procedure is basically carried out for the surgeon to take hair from bad-resistance parts of the scalp and transfer them on to the bald or thinning part. Hair located on the back and sides of the head are generally considered bald-resistance. Hair located on these two parts of the scalp are considered genetically resistant to baldness, which is why they would surely grow back. It is best for you to have a few hair replaced in every session to give the procedure a more natural look.

Three different methods are used for hair transplantation. Their details are given below:

FUSS or Follicular Unit Strip Surgery

In this procedure, a strip of hair is taken from the donor region and implanted on to the balding or thinning areas. The doctor then makes use of sutures to close off the donor area. Healing of the donor area takes quite a few days. This procedure can be considered ideal for ideal to extreme cases of balding as it allows a number of grafts to be transplanted in single session.

    FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction

In comparison with the previous method, this is considered more recent and is even more famous. In this method, the transplant expert takes strands of hair in groups of one to four from the back and sides of your hair and implants them on to the affected area. This is how hair grow the natural way. The results are fairly natural as the process is similar to that of natural hair growth. The best part is that you do not receive major cuts. This is the reason why the recovery time is fairly short and there are not many scars.

    Scalp Reduction

This procedure of hair transplant is not commonly performed and is rather rarely used. In this method, the area that is bald is removed surgically and the part of the scalp which still has hair is stretched so as to replace the area that has been taken away. Not everyone can afford scalp reduction considering the fact that it is extremely expensive. The most obvious drawback of this procedure is that it thins up the scalp by tightening it.

If you want to get hair transplant done, you need to know that you would never have the same amount of hair ever again. All these procedures are meant to do is cover the thinning areas and make the scalp appear fuller. But, hair transplant is not all that safe and has its own risks. The skin graft has the tendency to die and you would haveto have the surgery again. Your scalp might also have a few bumps on it. It is necessary for the procedure to be carried out by a professional and qualified doctor. Plus, it is necessary for you to understand in depth details about this procedure before actually deciding to go for it.
