Morale is low, and I should be very happy to have a job. Though, unsure on for how much longer that will be. 2 years now with Verizon Telecom and yet in January there was news of additional layoffs. Union has no news, and we hear more through the Times than we do from our own company, of course. (check out: This Article) Forced overtime where the company can force us to work an additional 2 hours without prior notice than the end of your shift, sales objectives to meet with strict monitoring of whole housing each incoming call to our quad bundles making this less about customer service and more about company bottom lines. Having to of course meet the call center needs of adherence to schedule, hold times, and answer customer concerns, inquiries and frustrations on a 5 minute phone call. System limitations where a telecom company cannot meet the requirements to meet lag time between orders and complicated multiple order situations that keep customers on the time during valuable time where a quick temporary suspend order can take up to 15 minutes to remove a package, issued the suspend, restore, and recap. Additional job duties taking over vendor billing, recourse of charges, retention, and sales. We are universal reps for the most part-except cellular for now. Its a demanding profession, and I am grateful for my job... but the stress of the demands compound. The news of the layoffs and knowing my 2 years of seniority mean nothing as so many others with years and decades of service from other jobs in the nation have lost that security. I had to have my anti-depression/anxiety meds changed several times since I started this position from dosage amount from Zoloft to switching to Effexor to battle the night terrors and panic attacks in the middle of the night because of the stress. Stress induced eye twitching, patches of pealing dry skin treating with steroid creams aggravated by stress, and monitored high blood pressure. Friends having stroke symptoms and heart attacks, demands of the job? I would take a lower paying job to rid myself of the stress, though I refuse to leave my position. Maybe a reliable schedule weekly with known shift days, and OT having to be advised at least 24hours in advance... Hoping Union can keep our jobs secure and benefits. Union Help Us All. |
