6/16/2006 - Week1 - Post departure

So it's been almost a week since Jim's been gone. A bit hectic at first. Thanks to Maria for watching Baby O, and thanks to Maya and Lyn for the support as well.

Monday - was going to be late to work, so I didn't bother to go. 6 points for being late or 4 points on my attendance for missing another day consecutive. I opted for the 4.

Tuesday - day1 on my now new 'daily routine'. Things went rather smoothly.

Wednesday - ran out of gas driving Maya to work on the highway! No one would stop for 2 women and a 9 month old baby walking down the highway. Trekked it down a slope through 2 parking lots from a major 6 lane highway to a Wegmans where Lyn rescued us. Bought me gas to get us going again. She was our hero that day. Cop finally came when Lyn was putting gas into my truck, as much help he was then just making sure no one would hit us. Went to work - actually was one time, although Maya was 1hr late. Complained to Jim via webcam/voice chat. This way he can still see Olivia.

Thursday - last workday this week for me. Thank the gods. Seemed to take forever this week and I really only worked 3.3 days! Pay day, although it's all suppose to be allocated to 'x' bils.

Friday - WIC appointment, picked up checks for Oliva and Farmers Market coupons. Yum. Also had eye appointment with Dr. Sacco, who booked an appointment with a retinal specialist for 6/28/06 for 'consultation' regarding my recurring uv-itis (iritis). My left eye aparently is worse than it's been with either eye so far right now. I can't feel the difference, possible because now I'm rather numb to the pain. Its more of an irritant to not be able to see clearly. Would not prescribe me sunglasses, and my eyes are so swollen on the inside he said I would end up needed another prescription once my eyes are 'fixed'... so I had to spend $45 on clip on sunglasses that fit my regular lenses. They're nice, but I ended up spending $75 in one sitting. Although I would have spent more with prescription sunglasses. I'll keep you apprised of my next 'eye consultation' once it happens. As the retinal specialist will most likely have to try and 'break the cycle' my eyes are on. Dr. Sacco has done a wonderful job treating my symptoms, but I need to be able to see clearly again. That hasn't happened since before January.

I say, "I'll be so happy when I can see again!" It's amazing how much is taken forgranted. I may set up an appointment for Oliva before her 1st birthday with Dr. Saccos office. They do free exams for babies/infants before 1 year of age to ensure their eyes are working correctly / together. With my eye issues, I'd rather be pro-active in getting attention to Olivia. Better to be safe than sorry.

Wrap Up:

I am feeling confident in my ability to handle difficult situations.
