9/19/2006 - Beer, Warrior, and Sexy Body
Mens bodies are usually not insulted by greedy consumers eyes. This is not that we, women, do not have understanding of what the ideal mans body should look like or we do not have appreciation of it, but this is because the advertisement rarely uses men as the subject. It was very refreshing to see a billboard with a muscular man with his nicely shaped glowing body, spread on the sofa in full length. Black and grey colors of the Photoshop effectively intensified the image. "Warrior!" - Best underwear for men.
Passing the billboard, I always slowed down, mystified by the concept behind of this gigantic idea: the underwear or the sexy looking mans body or both. What was the purpose? It was obvious that it was not just about the "Warrior" underwear otherwise the whole concept would be incorrect: bikini appeared disproportionately tiny. Was it the advertisement of how a man should look like at least ideally or it was about the mysterious power of high quality underwear that could turn any man into a sex symbol? Men are too realistic, I think, to believe that "Warrior" can turn their tired bodies into that playboyish look without an effort.
I planned to call one day to the billboard company to satisfy my curiosity just to find out one morning that I was too late. The billboard was transformed into a hybrid of a sexy man and a gigantic beer can that replaced the tiny piece of fabric. No, that was not my hallucination: the beer can was sticking right out of the bikini and looked foreign to the "Warrior" trademark next to mans head.
Now, I really want to know what this advertisement was about: the beer, the body or the underwear. Unless, I might not hear of a new "Mens Body Rights" organization that stood up against of using men for advertisement? That is our womens priority, right?
