| What's with these fancy magazines anyway, with fancy models on the cover wearing fancy clothes and make-up alongside fancy fonts flashing the latest boy alerts, top ten cool outfits, popular teen trivia, and extra more? They're like eye candies, which these teens can't get enough of. It's like their survival guide, the handbook for the young and the restless. And 'twas the typical dead hours inside the room that I got to scour through her collection to see for myself what makes them sell.
It's not like I skipped adolescence to be this oblivious, I just had a different sense of teenhood. As my sister turned out to be the popular one, I recall my geekness and 'Daria' syndrome back in those days which hold responsible to the unconsciousness I have towards the fanciness of teenage life. As I began my post-mortem, I started to actually get entertained rather than queasy as I thought I might be. Even more, I got to be thankful for such fine editors and writers for pulling off nice, well-mannered piece altogether. All the positive points outweighed the trivial ones in my rating scale. Besides, it's not trivial to get them acquainted with the cute boys in town (as some of them can be real cuties), since it's their nature to appreciate their opposites at such age. And their models aren't matchstick-thin too, which are considerably prettier than their Twiggy-like counterparts.
