Magazines for a Cause7/25/2008
WebbyShop is deducting 5% off on all their Magazine subscriptions until the 31st of July, 2008! Aside from this great deal, you will also be helping the fundraising campaign they currently support, the Maree Fund. This fundraising activity aims to provide a six year old child who needs to under an open-heart surgery the soonest possible time. The Maree Fund, started on the 20th of June, is for the benefit of Jerthrude Maree who was diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect. The Maree fund's goal is to gather the amount of $5000 until the end of July to help pay for this child's heart operation. Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is a heart condition that occurs during fetal development. ASD is also called as the "hole in the heart" because the wall that divides the right and the left side of the heart had an incomplete closure. A large hole in the heart that remains untreated can cause problems such as abnormal heartbeat, failure of the right side of the heart, stroke, and serious damage to the lungs called pulmonary hypertension. A surgical procedure is the only option to repair the hole in the heart. Surgical treatment done in childhood rarely have heart problems later in life Despite the fact that Jerthrude Maree was diagnosed with ASD when she was 2 years old, financial difficulties led them to set back her much needed surgery. Recent findings by her pedia-cardiologist showed that pressure in her lungs are starting to set in. Pulmonary hypertension might take over if the surgery won't be done soon. That's why WebbyShop came up with the Maree Fund to help her with the surgery. Aside from enjoying the hottest and the best magazines around, you will also be helping this child live a better and normal life. All earnings from WebbyShop will go directly to the Maree Fund. Together, we can make a difference in this child's life.
