Paris Hilton: Just Another Dumb Blog

Paris Hilton's Mission Of Peace To Be Incidentally Shot For Reality TV Pilot

Despite David Letterman's best efforts to the contrary, Paris Hilton is fully enthusiastic to looking ahead since a recent tumble
antonyms:  discharge threw everything into perspective for the multihyphenated heiress: There are B-movies to shoot, Folies Bergères-themed fragrances to promote, and, of course, the matter of her ongoing charity campaigns, including her oft-mentioned sojourn to Rwanda, where she hopes to spend some celebrity capital in order to raise awareness about a bit it is that's going on over there. Newsweek reports:

"There are a lot of bad people in L.A.," she says. "Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties--it was a fantasy. But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world."
She'll be in Rwanda for five days, card schools and health-care clinics and bunking in decidedly un-Hilton-like accommodations. "I'm scared, yeah. I've heard it's really dangerous," she says. "I've never been on a trip like this before." She says she'll resort to eating candy bars if that's what it takes to get her through any foreign-cuisine issues. She'll be road warrior with a little-known children's charity called Playing for Good. "She's using her celebrity and the cameras that follow her for the good of humanity," says Scott Lazerson, the organization's founder. Let's not forget the good of Lazerson, and Hilton. Turns out that he's filming the trip in hopes of selling it as a reality show called "The Philanthropist," pointing up* various selfless celebrities who rescue the world's poor.

Splitting hairs over whether the journey is driven by Paris's genuine concern for those "hungry Darfricans," or a desire to add another reality TV credit to her ever-lengthening IMDB resume, is entirely besides the point. What's important here is that Hilton is undertaking the mission in the first place; the civil-war-ravaged locals, after all, really won't be second-guessing the motives of the nice blonde lady handing out Can Can fragrance samples and In-N-Out burgers, served with a warm smile and a friendly reminder to, "Always practice safe sex!"
