Ads not welcomed in Tennessee Valley
The raunchy Paris Hilton Carl Jr. commercial is scheduled to begin airing in the East Coast later this month but Tennessee Valley is not having it. The franchise who owns 37 of the 39 local chains of Hardees which is owned by Carl Jr.'s says the ads go too far.
Dale Forrester, the president of DelRay Advertising, which handles the local ads for Hardees says "We just feel we're in a conservative market. We're conservative people. We feel our customers are conservative, and so we feel this is not appropriate."
I can honestly understand their view on this one. The Paris Hilton commercial is definitely a little bit dirty and to me it doesn't actually set the stage for burgers. Though, Hardees never really had the image of a family restaurant. Last year Hardees had ads which stated that they do not sell toys like their competitors (McDonalds, Burger King, etc.)....the statement was basically a way of saying they do not have kid meals...come to Hardees to get a adult meal...leave the kids at home. Maybe I'm looking to far into it but it does go with their current direction, because the commercial does not say anything about family, but then again Hooters is a family restaurant.
