Took Murray to the vet a couple nights ago for vaccinations and a check-up. He's down another three ounces since late July, so he's now lost 10 ounces since his "peak" in 2007. (He's now 14 pounds, 3 ounces.) I hope the weight loss is just 'cause I switched his food to a better quality brand. I've heard that if you give a cat higher quality food, it will eat less because its nutritional needs are met sooner than if you give it junk.
My vet found a patch of thinning fur on Murray's back. I was worried, because it can be a symptom of some diseases, like hyperthyroidism (but my vet thinks that is unlikely at Murray's relatively young age of six or seven). But my vet thinks I shouldn't be too concerned, especially with the seasons shifting (though it doesn't SEEM to be getting any cooler!). The vet must be honest, because if he really wanted my money, he would play on my fears and act all worried and say that a bunch of expensive tests needed to be run.
So - I will just keep an eye on it, and TRY not to worry! :-)
Working a half-day today. And getting treated to a free lunch by the bosses, as a thank-you for our hard work getting our new layout program up and running. Free lunch is always good. :-)
