Giving up on leash-training my kitty

I had gotten a walking jacket for Murray, to try to leash-train him. At first he seemed to be getting used to the jacket, and I had some hope. But now he's decided that when I put it on him (which he's started fighting), he'll just lie down in the same place where I put the jacket on him, and he won't move until I take it off. That pretty much defeats the purpose of the jacket, so I'm going to send it back. I guess Murray is just too old (six or seven) and set in his ways to be taught. Too bad. I was hoping to expose him again to the sights and sounds and smells of the great outdoors, which he's been deprived of since he stopped being a stray and moved in with me. But, oh well, I guess he's adjusted very well to being an indoor kitty, so hopefully he doesn't feel like he's missing out on anything. |
