Televangelists are really nothing to write home about, at least not most of them. This is one area that has been so over sensationalized and commercialized to the point that its hard to tell who is in it for the money or who is in it for the love of it. Don´t get me wrong, I have nothing against this particular breed, actually I do think that one Joel Osteen is indeed a cut above the rest.

There was this particular episode where he was talking about the wife who used to cut the ends off her ham. The husband, who used to think that was being wasteful, one day got the nerve and asked his wife why she cut the ends off the ham. The wife, being defensive, said that her mother used to make the best ham in the world and that´s how she did it. The husband said fine but asked the wife if she knew why her mother did it? The wife didn´t know. The husband suggested they call the wife´s mother (mother-in-law) to find out why, the wife agreed.

As you guessed it, the wife´s mother response was similar to her daughter´s. She cut the ham because her mother (grandmother) did it too. Once again the husband suggested they call the grandmother and ask her why she did it.

The grandmother said that it was simply because her pan was too small!

In the long run, it would have been cheaper and more convenient had the grandma got herself a new bigger pan.

This in relation our lives would be equated to the smaller pan representing the status quo. Most of us are so content to remain at the smaller place in our lives regardless of the inconvenience it causes us. Most of us follow traditions and rules without questioning as to why we do so.

Isn´t about time we all got a bigger pan represented by taking a step towards our own personal advancements towards much greater heights?

Like a wise man once said, don´t let your past dictate your future.
