Another Look At the BP Oil Blow Out Disaster and Revelation 9 Bernard Pyron http://www.thetakeaway.org/blogs/takeaway/2010/sep/21/five-months-eight-days-timeline-bp-oil-spill/ "April 20, 2010: A methane bubble comes up from the well and explodes, killing 11 and injuring 17. The subsequent fire will burn for two days a...nd ultimately sink the platform. The blow-out preventer, a device on the ocean floor engineered to stop the flow of oil in case of emergency, fails to engage, and crude oil gushes from the wellhead some 5,000 feet below the water’s surface." "September 19: A final pressure test determines that the leak is permanently closed, and Adm. Thad Allen releases a statement saying the well is “effectively dead.” OK. how long is April 20th to September 19th? Its 151 days, or five months. Revelation 9: 1-5 says "And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man." On http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlPPFcy-3Vo&feature=related "BP Gulf Oil Spill Leak Plume Gusher Disaster Video" what is shown looks like clouds of smoke gushing out of a hole. This is an underwater video. Revelation 9: 2 says "...And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit..." Thats what the video seems to show, though we know the hole out of which the "smoke" is rising is at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. And - apparently its not smoke from a fire which the video is showing, but gas perhaps mixed with oil. Revelation 9: 3 says "And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power." The locusts, or scorpions, coming out of the smoke from the opening of the bottomless pit is metaphoric, and literal scorpions are not expected to come out of some literal hole. In fact, the bottomless pit is a metaphor. Revelation 9: 5 says "...that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion..." Is this a literal period of five months, or is it also metaphoric? Whichever it is in the Book of Revelation, the BP Oil Blowout Disaster lasted exactly five months, from the time of the blow out and explosion which killed eleven men until it was officially announced that the "oil leak" was closed off. Five months does not have exactly the same number of days at different times of the year, because some months have 30 days and some 31. So, five months is about 150 days. What is the probability that an oil well blow out under the ocean would last about 150 days? I know of no way to calculate this probability in an exact way - because, in part, there have not been many such events. The higher the probability that an underwater oil well blowout would last exactly 150 or 151 days the more likely it this time period is coincidental. I doubt that the probability is real high, so the chances of it being coincidental are not zero, but still not real high. In other words, it could be a coincidence, but not real likely to be. So we have to wonder if the Lord has not given those with eyes to see a clue from this agreement of the 151 day period of the "leak" with what is said in Revelation 9: 5. The opening of the bottomless pit is a metaphor in itself. The BP oil blowout points to that metaphor for those who can see it. There have been reports of the dispersant Corexit used in massive amounts in the Gulf coming down in the rain over parts of the eastern U.S., and some say this has caused brown-black spots on some trees. I posted parts of an article on the break up of the Gulf Loop Current and the warm Atlantic Gulf Stream, due to Corexit and maybe oil too. Authorities have said that fish from the Gulf is safe to eat, and if this is not true and the fish is contaminated with Corexit, eating fish from the Gulf may kill many Americans. So, what the mainstream media has called an "oil spill" is likely to be an event much larger in scope than an oil spill. How large cannot be determined now, but it has the potential of being big. Some have said that BP drilled into the side of an asphalt volcano in the Gulf, which contained a huge amount of oil and gas under great pressure. They say that there are other asphalt volcanoes under the Gulf of Mexico and perhaps BP should have expected a blow out to occur which would cause problems. Note that Revelation 9: 1 says "And the fifth angel sounded..." This is the Fifth Trumpet. It is the time of the scorpions. What is the opening of the bottomless pit? At a literal level, some place that was sealed off - maybe underground or under the sea - is opened and smoke comes out of the hole made when the bottomless pit is opened. This can mean metaphorically that evil was restrained and at some point - during the Tribulation - it is allowed to get out of its restraint. The metaphor goes on to say that locust-scorpions come out of the bottomless pit and torment those who do not have the seal of God in their foreheads. In Ezekiel 2: 3-6 scorpions are used as a metaphor for the apostate children of Israel. " And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers ...have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. 4. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD. 5. And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. 6. And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house." Did you ever hear scorpions talk? Scorpions are metaphoric, not literal. The scorpions of Ezekiel 2: 3-5 are the children of Israel in apostasy. The scorpions as apostate church Christians torment some group of people during this period of the scorpions. This group that receives the torment of the scorpions are also church Christians, but they are probably coming out of false doctrines and that is why they are being tormented. Something else may be going on now in the time of the scorpions. What has been going on politically in the last five months in the U.S.? Opposition to the Democratic leftist regime has been gaining strength, and it may be that part of this rise of the political right involves those who claim to be Christians, or who want to appeal to Christians. Some form of Christian apostasy may come to power during the time of the scorpions. Maybe it will be a mix of Christian dominionism, Mormonism, (Beck) and dispensationalism. It will probably not be as radical a version of Christian Zionism as may occur during the period of the serpents. Something worse is to follow when the bottomless pit is opened. It may follow soon. Revelation 9: 12 says "One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter. Then, Revelation 9 moves to the time of the serpents. Revelation 9: 13 notes that the sixth angel sounds to begin this period - the Sixth Trumpet. Revelation 9: 17-19 says "And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. 18. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. 19. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt." At one level the horses with breastplates of iron might be modern instruments of war. At the other level, the tails like serpents points to the serpents as metaphors for men. Matthew 23: 29, 33 says " Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous.Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?" Serpents in Revelation 9 at one level are religious leaders, who like the Pharisees of Christ's time, impose false doctrines on the Lord's people and rule over them, or at least over those in the churches. The serpents of the end times will probably have a somewhat different spirit than their allies the scorpions who want to torment their Christian opponents and gain worldly things in the process. The serpents as the religious leaders who rule over the churches and denominations are more rigid and dogmatic, and less focused on gaining fleshly things. Remember, the Pharisees wanted to kill Christ bcause they saw him as a threat to their power. At another level in Revelation 9: 13-18 says "And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14. Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. 16. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. 17. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. 18. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths." This might be the Gog-Magog War of Ezekiel 38, or a major war in the Middle East involving the nation of Israel. We might link the serpent period of Revelation 9 to the beast whose deadly wound was healed mentioned in Revelation 13: 3, 12, and 14. The nation of Israel received its deadly wound when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman army in 70 A.D. Its deadly wound was healed in 1948 when Israel became a nation. We could also associate the scorpion period of Revelation 9 with the second beast of Revelation 13: 11-18. This second beast has been called the False Prophet, and its the Christian church in apostasy, after the falling away of II Thessalonians 2: 3. |

Another Look At the BP OIl Blowout and Revelation 9 - 10:13 AM, 9/26/2010
I said that "What is the probability that an oilwell blow out under the ocean would last about 150 days? I know of no way to calculate this probability in an exact way - because, in part, there have not been many such events. The higher the...... probability that an underwater oil well blowout would last exactly 150 or 151 days the more likely it this time period is coincidental. I doubt that the probability is real high, so the chances of it being coincidental are not zero, but still not real high. In other words, it could be a coincidence, but not real likely to be."
What I was thinking when I wrote this is that if - for some reason - an underwater oil well blowout would be expected to last about five months, then Revelation 9: 5, talking about a period of five months, would not appear to be related to the oil blowout. I used the word
coincidental to suggest this idea. That is, if the oil spilling out of the hole in the ocean floor was expected, on the basis of knowledge about such blow outs, to last five months. then Revelation 9:5 and the oil blowout would not seem to be related.
But there is not exact knowledge available for predicting how long an underwater oil blowout would last. It depends upon many factors, such as how much oil is in the oil pool below the sea, how competent the oil people are in stopping the oil, or whether there is an agenda, etc.
There are no good reasons to expect the BP oil blowout to last exactly 150 or 151 days.
But - the problem in using man made knowledge is that God is sovereign over everything that happens. Whether there was knowledge predicting an undersea oil well blowout would last five months or not, God could arrange things so that a time period in scripture and how long an event in the physical world lasts would match up.
God could get the attention of some of his people by showing them that Scripture talks about a five month period and that the BP oil blowout lasted that long.
"Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Amos 3: 7
What is God showing us?
If the BP oil blowout marks the beginning of the Fifth Trumpet Judgment of Revelation 9, then somehow we have missed the earlier Trumpet Judgments.
So, according to Revelation 9, which is a very difficult chapter, what is going to happen during the period of the Fifth and Sixth Trumpets?
The Sixth Trumpet Judgment starting in Revelation 9: 13 is the time of the serpents, who are like the Pharisees of Christ's time. They are dogmatic and
authoritarian and will try to keep their authority over church Christians and any others...... who might challenge them. Remember that the Pharisees had Christ killed
"Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, what do we? For this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation." John 11:47-48
Not all Christian religious leaders are dispensationalists. But the majority of them do follow the idea that ethnic Israel is still God's chosen people. Many are dispensationalists and honor ethnic Israel as the chosen. They rely on what they think are Bible predictions that ethnic Israel will be saved at some time later on.
The Sacred Namers may not think they have "sacred" blood, but they also honor those who do have it, or claim to have that blood. Followers of Christian Identity, who say the Germanic and Celtic peoples are descendants of the lost tribes of Israel, think they have that special blood that gives them status with God.
Then, there are the Mormons and various groups in Messianic Judaism, who claim to have chosen people genes.
Could all of these groups together make up a major apostacy during the time of the serpents? And this apostasy would support the zionist cause and the side of the nation of Israel in a major war in the Middle East which would spread to America and perhaps Europe and elsewhere?
Here is part of an article I found on the Internet. It is a little hard to follow but has some interesting points.
On
http://www.bible-researcher.com/gal6-16.html
the author says:
"But it is difficult to speak of Scofield's "Israel" of the end-times as consisting of "Jewish Christians," because they are not in the Church, and they are not dealt with on the same terms as the Christians who are of the Church. They are "God's earthly people," according to Scofield, as distinguished from the Church, who are God's "heavenly people." They are the "wife of Jehovah" and not the "bride of Christ," and so forth. Such teachings of the classic dispensationalist theology rigorously maintained the distinction between "Israel" and "the Church." If this distinction is to be upheld in Galatians 6:16 then presumably the "Israel of God" must be taken as a reference to the eschatological Israel who are to be saved by a different gospel, after Paul's own gospel dispensation has ended. [4] But one rarely hears this kind of pure and radical dispensationalist teaching now. Today dispensationalists seem to be in a muddle, having moved away from consistency in distinguishing Israel and the Church. Israel may now be spoken of as a part of the Church, and so there is a special and privileged class of "Jewish Christians" within the body of Christ. [5]"
In his footnote (5) he says:
"This tendency in Dispensationalism seems to have come to full bloom in the so-called "Messianic Judaism" movement of the past thirty years, which is clearly sectarian in nature. Many people, including some prominent missionaries to the Jews, have expressed migivings about the whole direction of this movement. Fred Klett (a Jewish evangelist associated with the Presbyterian Church in America) addressed the problem in a conference paper presented at the 19th annual North America conference of the Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism, March 11-13, 2002. He wrote: "Traditional Dispensationalism teaches that during the present age Jews and Gentiles who believe in Jesus are all part of the church. The distinction between the church and Israel is essentially theoretical and of little practical consequence in the present dispensation. As Messianic Judaism struggled for its distinct identity, it departed from some elements of Dispensationalism but kept others. Messianic Judaism retained the Dispensational church-Israel distinction, but what was only theoretical in older Dispensationalism is brought into the present. Messianic Judaism has immanentized the eschaton, or in plainer English, what is future for Dispensationalists, a separate millennial plan for Israel, Messianic Judaism has brought into immediate reality. In the present situation, they believe, God has a separate plan, additional promises, and unique covenant obligations for Jewish believers. This confusion of epochs is used by Fischer to justify Gentiles converting to Messianic Judaism. He argues that, since this will be done during the 'millennium,' why not now?" ("The Centrality of Messiah and the Theological Direction of the Messianic Movement..."
During the present age Jews and Gentiles who believe in Christ are all part of the church, according to this view of dispensationalism. Unsaved Jews, those who reject Christ, and who are the vast majority of Jews, in dispensationalism are God's other people, who this theology claims will be saved in mass later.
Footnote (5) goes on to say:
"Klett's phrase "immanentized the eschaton" is very apt, but he does not seem to realize that this confusion has for a long time been normal in popular Dispensationalism. In 1970, Hal Lindsey's book The Late Great Planet Earth showed it clearly enough. "Messianic Judaism" is more of an outgrowth than a cause of this confusion. The great majority of people involved in "Messianic Judaism" are not Jewish--they are mostly Gentile charismatics, who apparently have become so carried away with their end-times fantasies about the Jews that they have begun to play the part themselves. One well-informed source, Stan Telchin of the "Jews for Jesus" ministry, estimates that between eighty and ninety percent of the people involved in "Messianic Judaism" are Gentiles, and he complains that for all its emphasis on Jewishness the movement has failed to attract Jews. He tells of one Jewish woman who was repelled by the spectacle of Gentiles "worshipping the symbols of Judaism," searching their family histories for Jewish ancestors, and trying to observe the ritual commandments of the Torah like Orthodox Jews. She left this "Messianic" scene "filled to overflowing by the wanabees and the Pharisees" and joined an ordinary Christian church where Christ was the center of attention, not Judaism (Messianic Judaism is Not Christianity [Grand Rapids: Chosen, 2004], p. 82)."
It is interesting that he says the majority of people in Messianic Judaism are Gentiles. Most Jews I have known are Caucasians.
The Mormons claim to be descendants of Hebrews, although most or almost all of them are Caucasians, and probably cannot prove they have Hebrew blood. Again, they have accepted the idea that Jews, or Hebrews, are the chosen race, and want to have part of that blood in them.
On http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetics_and_the_Book_of_Mormon
"The understanding of Joseph Smith, and, traditionally, of Mormons in general, is that the Book of Mormon indicates that the Lamanites, descended from Lehi, are a "remnant of the House of Israel"
Apparently the Mormons have claimed to be descendants of the Lamanites.
