Dean Gotcher on the Dopamine Reward System

Bernard Pyron

"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh;
but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to
be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is li...fe and
peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not
subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that
are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but
in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if
any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Romans 8:
5-9)

Dean Gotcher, a Christian Remnant leader who has exposed the attitude
change procedure of the dialectic, has equated the carnal mind with
the dopamine reward system in the human midbrain. See:

http://www.authorityresearch.com/2010-01 The Cognitive, Affective, and Psycho-motor domains and the dialectical process.htm

Here Gotcher says that "Concupiscence means intense or hot carnal
desire. Man is, is by his nature, driven by the things of the world
which stimulate dopamine emancipation, resulting in the "wanting of
the gratifying objects of the world." Rather than being lead by God's
Holy Spirit, desiring the things which are from above, man, lead by
his fleshy nature, is by nature, a lover of pleasure rather than a
lover of God)."

In this article Dean Gotcher goes on to say "Before the individual
(the student) can participate in Diaprax, the proper situation or
"healthy" condition which stimulates the "sensuous need," i.e. the
pleasure, the "self-actualized" fruition of the "want of a gratifying
object in nature" which was blocked by the Patriarchal Paradigm must
be created (thus the necessity of facilitation and a spectrum based
curriculum development (progressivism), i.e. the development and
utilization of the "Taxonomy" in the classroom environment, i.e.
curriculum methods used to create a social setting in the classroom
for the 'purpose' of 'changing' the student paradigm, i.e. way of
thinking, feeling, and acting, from a Patriarchal paradigm to a
Heresiarchal paradigm--to be explained later). "

The dopamine reward system in the human midbrain, the emotional
centers, are the physiological centers of pleasure. Gotcher says
sensual pleasure must exist as a motivation for a subject's
participation in diaprax. This reward as pleasure does not have to be
sex, or drugs like cocaine or heroin (which are poswerful triggers for
the dopamine rush). The reward can be emotional fellowship with
others in the group.

The subject who is to be the object of the attitude change procedure
called the dialectic should want acceptance by the group in order to
feel some of that dopamine rush of pleasure. The facilitator uses
this desire for group acceptance to get the subject to participate in
the process of the dialectic. Since the subject wsants group
acceptance, he or she goes along with this deceptive attitude change
procedure.

Gotcher then tells us that "According to this social-psychological
(Transformational Marxists) mindset, a particular behavior is a
response to a particular environment which stimulates a particular
"behavior for which we have not yet found a cause," i.e. that behavior
being "caprice," or impulse, mimesis, i.e. chemical-electrical
response in our body which responds to something within the
environment ("lust" of the flesh), i.e. avoid pain and approach
pleasure, i.e. stimulating hormones such as oxytocin,
neurotransmitters such as dopamine, etc. "But science insists that
action is initiated by forces impinging upon the individual, and that
caprice is only another name for behavior for which we have not yet
found a cause." (Carl Rogers On Becoming A Person) Such an agenda, to
control the world through environment control, can only be initiated
and sustained by men who only believe in a materialistic, physical
world, who disregard any belief that man is more than a thinking,
feeling, and acting material object stimulated by and responding to
the environment around him, using 'scientific' methods to discover,
understand, explain, and justify the use of environment controls for
their ends, i.e. that end being the negation of God and His Word,
treating the Spiritual work of God as a phenomenal thing to be
analyzed in a laboratory setting and explained scientifically,
materialistically, humanistically, practically (rationally), treating
it as irrational and therefore irrelevant when it serves no useful
social 'purpose.'"

He says, after quoting "1 John 2: 16, "For all that is in the
world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride
of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." 1 John 2:16

It is our earthy nature to attempt to restore relationship with any
object which stimulates pleasure that has been removed or is being
removed (by cunning or force if necessary)"

Again, Gotcher explains that "In the case of dopamine (a
neurotransmitter associated with pleasure; the neurotransmitter
associated with the wanting of a gratifying object we have encountered
in the environment), any event within the environment around us, which
is pleasurable or appears to be pleasurable, is relayed toward the
brain as something to be approached, i.e. "This experience is worth
paying attention to." It is therefore our nature to approach
pleasure. It is our temporal, carnal nature (animal nature according
to behavioral "scientists") which seeks to unity with the world around
us in pleasure ("positive social nature"). "The innermost core of
man's nature, the base of his 'animal nature,' is positive in nature."
(Carl Rogers on becoming a person: A Therapist View of Psychotherapy)

He says "Dopamine is the neurotransmitter which produces the feeling
of "wanting" a gratifying object which we have encounter (or wish to
encounter) within the environment. Whether it is from the smell of
freshly baked bread, the taste of som...ething sweet, the touch of
something or someone, the sound of music or a voice, the view of a
sunset or a person, or a complement from somebody, if a neuron
associated with pleasure is activated, we are drawn to the object
which stimulated it. We long for approval (belonging) from the world
around us. Actually we long for the pleasure we receive from the
"sense experience" of dopamine emancipation which our contact with the
world stimulates. We also experience dopamine emancipation as the
result of the approval we receive from the world around us."

And "Psychology, sociology, anthropology, etc. are built upon "Lust."
"Self-perfection of the human individual is fulfilled in union with
the world in pleasure." "Eros is fundamentally a desire for union
with objects in the world."

On http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dopamine

they say

"Dopaminergic neurons (i.e., neurons whose primary neurotransmitter is
dopamine) are present chiefly in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) of
the midbrain, the substantia nigra pars compacta, and the arcuate
nucleus of the hypothalamus.

The ventral tegmentum (tegmentum is Latin for covering), better known
as the ventral tegmental area (VTA), is a group of neurons located
close to the midline on the floor of the midbrain (mesencephalon). The
VTA is the origin of the dopaminergic cell bodies of the
mesocorticolimbic dopamine system and is widely implicated in the drug
and natural reward circuitry of the brain. It is important in
cognition, motivation, drug addiction, and several psychiatric
disorders."

The VTA - ventral tegmental area - is above the brain stem and below
the cerebral cortex.

On http://www.jneurosci.org/cgi/content/full/23/27/9185

they say

"The strongest activation was found in the mesodiencephalic transition
zone. On the basis of the limited spatial resolution of the PET
technique, it is not possible to distinguish specific brainregions
within this area. The activated area at the mesodiencephalic junction
comprises the VTA, subparafascicular nucleus, LCTF, and medial and
ventral thalamus.

The VTA is located ventrally in the activated cluster. It contains the
A10 dopaminergic cell group and plays a crucial role in a wide range
of rewarding behaviors (McBride et al., 1999Go). Increased activation
in the area of the VTA was also seen during cocaine (Breiter et al.,
1997Go) and heroin rush (Sell et al., 1999Go). "

In this experiment male human brain areas activated by sex activity
were studied. The researchers conclude in saying that "The present
findings may represent an anatomical substratem for the strongly
reinforcing nature of sexual activity in humans."

Joy and fellowship are not opposed by the Lord. He says in "John
17:13 that "And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the
world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves."

And 1 John 1: 3, 7 says "That which we have seen and heard declare we
unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our
fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ...But if
we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one
with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from
all sin."

We are to have fellowship with the Father and with Christ, and with one
another, if we walk in the truth. The joy of the Lord is in that
fellowship. But its a spiritual, higher joy in fellowship.

Dean Gotcher is not a dean at a college or university.  Dean is his first

name.  He is a scholar and as a scholar has that rare quality of having

a great love of the truth of the Bible, and of knowing Scripture. Gotcher

now had an Internet radio program called "Defeating Diaprax," at 7:00 AM

So basically, it works the same for fleshly desires or spiritual desires, right?
And in the pursuit of spiritual, we have to be careful not to bring fleshly into it. To me, this appears to be the tricky part. How to discern whether we are being purely spiritual, fellowshipping with the Lord. If this brings us joy(dopamine), then we really, really need to try the spirits. It makes it easy to see why so many would be drawn and stay drawn to the more charismatic fellowships, they think they are being spiritual because it "feels" so right. But, it is designed that way, with music, lighting, tongues, etc.
This is actually a heavy topic, because so many are caught-up in it, and so few would even be willing to read this article or listen to Dean Gotcher speak on it. Can all these types be held accountable? They are being deceived by the master deceiver. Strong delusion? God have mercy on the multitude.
Bernard, I hope you stick around for awhile!!!
Brother Dan.
